Ruger Wants to "Repair" My 1964 Single-Six?
WTF?
Have you all seen this? This card came with my 10/22 Takedown:
Would I have to be crazy to want to take them up on this?
I bet they would say, "we can't install the kit on YOUR gun so we are going to give you a NEW Model and keep your OLD Model."
It's not just me, is it?

Personally, I wouldn't send it in because it may decrease that value as a collectible, even if they just modify your original frame. Since you know that it is risky to carry it with the hammer on a loaded chamber, you know what to do.
Most people don't use single action revolvers for their CCW anyway.

What part of "... you will get your original parts back for collector's purposes, and the frame and other major parts will not be affected by the conversion..." didn't you understand?

I don't see what the "WTF" part of this is. Maybe you should start by actually reading the text of the card.

What makes you think that? Do you think a reputable company would do that?

I've seen that exact card before. Came in the box of some of my Ruger purchases. Can't remember which one or when.
I've never owned the type of gun it pertains to.
I just assume they want to make all those older models drop safe, and putting the card in the box of a new gun purchase is a way to get the word out. The same note is probably on their website somewhere

Don't send it in. My dad did that with his single-six 20 years ago. It went in with a perfect, light, crispy trigger, and came back with a heavy, creepy, gritty POS trigger.

Yeah, the action of the old models is much better, in my opinion.

I've been sent that before.
I have a 1967 Single Six Convertable. Ruger issued a recall
years ago to install a block safety. Mine will never go in for that.
If you carry a three screw Ruger, have hammer on an EMPTY chamber.

They've been putting those cards in new Ruger products off and on since about 1972 or 73.. There was a time when they ran three or four full page adds, per issue, in magazines, not just gun magazines either, with the same offer.
Big deal.
It's an offer. Not a requirement.
Toss it in the trash if you don't want it done. No harm done.

Been doing it for a long time. Toss it. Keep the hammer on an empty chamber.

If it ain't just you, it should be. They have been doing this since they went to the transfer bar system. Maybe 40 years ago.
Do you live under a rock?
Anyway, they clearly state they send all the parts back and it doesn't alter the revolver so you can put the old parts back in. Doesn't affect collectors value either.

It's driven by lawyers and law suits. They've got to be able to prove they tried to fix the problem. Then when someone shoots off some part of their anatomy with one, they won't get sued.
I haven sent any of my old three screw Ruger's in. I and my kids know to carry them with the hammer down on an empty chamber. I'll let the kids worry about what to do after I'm gone. They can keep them, sell them, or send them in for the mod if they want to.
I like the trigger pull and cylinder indexing too much to mod it. Fantastically accurate revolvers.

I've seen several old model Single Sixes and Blackhawks for sale that have had the update.

I can calm down, but that is all. I've been married too long for the other.

Oh, me, me, me! I don't have a dog in this fight, but I want that. Is it only for upset Ruger guys? I have a 10/22.

I NEVER had any intentions of sending it in.
I don't even shoot it nor do I even know if it has ever been fired. I can't remember if I got that card with my Ruger Super Redhawk (which I sold last year) because I bought it in 1994....ish
This is the first and ONLY Ruger SA I have ever bought and I bought it in an estate sale...NO BOX, NO PAPERS....but the gun is ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS in appearance!!!!!

My pop did the same with his older Single Six. He regrets it.

I have a Single Six manufactured in 1958 best I can tell. Sent in the card and they sent a shipping box and shipping instructions. Was going to send it in until I discovered it was going to cost me $70 via UPS. Decided against it and am glad now...

The out of the box New Bearcat needs a triggerjob, in my opinion. (The transfer bar doesn't help.)
If it was my Bearcat, I'd leave well enough alone.
