Just because fun gun?

I have been working a ton of overtime and want to reward myself.
I don't know why, but I have always wanted a pistol grip shotgun (Mossberg Cruise style). I know they are useless, and I already have plenty of serious shotguns...but they look fun.
I have also been lusting after the new 10/22 TD. again, I need another .22 like a hole in the head, but it just seems cool.

As a playtoy, which one would have the most cool factor?

Happy friday

You can't beat a 22lr for a fun day of shooting on the cheap. Many years ago I had a Rossi pump 22lr and a buddy of mine and I went black bird hunting with our 22's. One of the most fun days I can remember shooting. Heck, even if you just shoot crackers, Tums, tin cans, ect with a 22 you can still end up having a lot of fun. I say get the 10/22 TD.

The 10/22 is a lot cheaper to play with. The shotgun is more practical for defense.

Since you are looking for something fun, the 10/22 seems like the right one.

I'm really leaning towards the Ruger except for one thing...once it's put together its just a 10/22. Hard to imagin it will compete with my tricked out m&p22 for range time

I just can't come to grips with shooting a pistol grip shotgun and fun being in the same sentence. The 10/22 would be more fun-- easy to shoot, cheap on ammo-- that's the ticket.

THIS ONE:

KT PMR-30

The Takedown is FREAKIN AWESOME, but no comparison to the PMR-30!

If you have a ton of overtime like you said, then the ultimate would be this:

Mini Draco AK-47 Pistol

"Cool" is in the eye of the beholder. What's cool to you may not be cool to me. The KT PMR-30 is SO COOL that it's in a class by itself

Good luck in your search. If you need advice we are always here.

I might be the odd guy out but nothing gets the stress of the work week out like beating myself up with a few rounds of 3" 00 buck through my pistol grip Winchester 1300. If you end up not liking the pistol grip on the Mossberg you can always swap it out for a regular stock.

Tough call. Never really hurts to have another .22 or shotgun around. I'd go for the Ruger. I think it's pretty neat.

Man I love my Mossberg Crusier. It's been guarding my home24/7/365 for over 15 years. The pistol grip might be useless,I took mine off but the the gun itself IMO is worth every dime.

You're not the only one. Magnum revolvers work for me. For this reason I say 12 gauge.

if you already have shotguns, why don't you just put a pistol grip (I gotta jones for a birdshead style myself) on one of them, and then buy the ruger?

From your list I would buy the 10/22 TD. Myself, I bought a PMR-30. I would also suggest other Kel-tec weapons for fun such as the PLR-16 .223 pistol (very loud with huge flash) or the incredible Keltec KSG Shotgun (bullpup) that fires 14 rounds of 2 3/4" 12G.

the 10/22TD is a 10/22 like any other, except it breaks in half and doesn't accept most 10/22 stocks.

I like this idea! Unless all your shotguns are designated for purpose.

I bought this tec-22 for a "just for fun" gun;

And it sure has been! At the store they had a hi-power on consignment for cheap, so it came home too!

Because, why not?

If ya get real close, you can make out the pachmayer logo

I've never seen another like it, and it's another reason I bought the gun. And the night sights, I've never seen.

It's easy to replace a standard Mossberg stock with the pistol grip if you want to just give it a try. Lots of very slightly used pistol grips for about $15 at gunshows, draw your own conclusion.

The Draco is FUN! More fun than plinking with a .22.
Get one while you can, it's the kind of thing the democrats would love to ban. Also, because it's legally a pistol, some of us can carry it concealed (unlike a rifle). It's accurate enough, and for home defense not only would it stop an intruder wearing a vest, it would even set him on fire.

Oh man would you look like the bad guy if you shot down a mugger with a Draco! If you really ever produced a concealed Draco, be prepared to be shot at by all the CCW permit holders around you.

I would probably opt for the 10-22, but in regular configuration or the heavy target model.

The take down model does not turn my crank- for me, would serve no special purpose, but to each his own.

The shotgun would be the most useful.

I wouldn't mind having teh Ruger 10/22 TD myself. I saw pictures of one with a Butler Creek folding stock and I can't get that image out of my head now. That is one compact package.
