Ironwood Designs. They are really the only game in town when it comes to milled Mak90's. There was only one batch of these imported in 1993 so nobody else makes a stock for it.

100% beautiful. You did a great job. Can you please give me the info on your finish/color you used. This is the exact look I want to do on my new Arsenal. Thanks for your time.

bmoore:

Wood prep

I sanded the stock smooth with 400 grit.

I then washed it down with cold water and dried it with a wash cloth. This raised the grain and allowed the color to go very deep.

I followed up with a slight rub down with 0000 steel wool.

Color
Straight Scarlet/Red RIT fabric dye. I used the liquid right from the bottle. Wipe it on with a clean rag and let it penetrate then wipe off excess with very damp rag.

After first wipedown

I repeated this several times until it looked dark and chalky.

I then washed it down with cold water and a rag until all that was left was the wood with a deep red tint. Amazing how much of that dark color was just surface. Before continuing I wiped it down with mineral spirits to get it clean and ready for oil.

Oil

I decided to get a little brown in the mix by doing one application of Minwax Red Oak finish as a base. After it dried I buffed with steel wool to remove any sheen.
That got me to here.

After that I just applied Tung oil once per day and buffed lightly until I was happy with the color. The first application of Tung oil soaked in deep and dried to a matte finish.

After that it just kept getting glossier with each coat. I did 3 total.

Very nice job! It looks great.

I wish I had the patience. If I had done it, there would be finger prints in the finish and red tint all over the furniture.

As a kid, I couldn't build model cars either.

Lol, thanks. I just took my time and didn't try to rush the drying process. I would do a coat, set it aside and forget about it for the rest of the day.

Very nicely done.

Can't go wrong with Matt's work from IWD though.
This is just simple sand, and wipe down with boiled linseed oil on my set of furniture Matt made for my M95 build

OP- did you take the recoil pad off? Im on the fence on whether or not to add the recoil pad option. I'm hoping my SGL-21 buttplate will fit onto the Ironwood designs stock. Also Ironwood just added a finish option to all their furniture. Its 50 buck for all 4 pieces done and looks quite nice.
