Hello from New Jersey
Howdy to everybody!
I have been a gun guy for 30 something years, have never owned anything but all metal and I am now ready to take the plunge.
Been wanting a high cap 9mm defensive handgun for a while so within the next couple of weeks I will purchase a Glock, most likely a Model 19 gen 3.
I am looking forward to learning on this cool forum.

Thanks everybody!
And I see NJ is well represented here. This state sure is unique. Plenty of outdoorsy stuff, fishing, camping, hunting, the whole Seashore thing, great food and entertainment in the cities, man I could go on and on. We get a bad rap from others, but I wouldn't trade anything for my lifelong experience here.
I am in NW part of state and love the rural life. Except for our silly gun laws, I like it here.
Outdoor opportunities abound, but good food places, not so much. That's when a little road trip becomes necessary for some awesome pizza or Italian bread. But other then that, no complaints from me.
As far a handguns go, I am really looking forward to getting me a Glock. I just feel that for a fighting type handgun, a Glock is pretty much the top tier. And that's coming from a guy with a couple of nice 1911s.
OK, sorry for being so long winded.

Thanks guys!
Just put a deposit down on a G19 Gen4 this morning, but having some second thoughts due to a lot of negative opinions. I'm wondering if Gen 3 is the way to go.

Hey jorj, welcome. I'm located in Morris county and shoot at RTSP in Randolph. Welcome to the world of plastic guns!
I hope you have a thick skin. There's a lot of NJ bashing that goes on here at GT.

Don't worry, the newer Gen4's are good. When your in the store ask to check the RSA and ejector to see which on is in it. I believe the latest RSA is 043, and the ejector is 30274.

Hey GlockinNJ,
Thanks for the welcome. I don't mind the bashing. NJs got good and bad, like everywhere else. Yea, some crazy stuff happens here, but it makes life interesting, ha ha.
I do get a laugh though, when an out-of-stater lands at Newark Airport, and like a miracle, suddenly becomes an expert on everything about New Jersey and all who live here.
Anyways, Glocks, Glocks, Glocks. I will make up my mind soon; gen3 or gen4.

Good news! Got me my first Glock today and a good price I think, too. It's a G19 Gen4, manufact. date of 2/12, and it is a beauty.
Soon I will find out if I can shoot it worth a dang.

I can get the world's best Taylor ham, egg and cheese sammich right down the block, but it probably won't make the trip to Florida very well.
In north Jersey, we call it Taylor ham. In south Jersey, it's called pork roll.
In north Jersey, we call them subs. In south Jersey, they're hoagies.

Thank you guys.
I put on the medium back strap and been dry firing my new G19. So far I like the way it handles and it points very well. I can already see myself liking this gun when I get to the range.
I live out in the sticks and because there ain't no good bakery out this way, I have to go all the way to Essex County, every so often, for some real Italian bread. But that's really no big deal.
Oh yea, taylor ham and egg on a hard roll is the best.
