Do what I did, and move away from Illinois. You will not regret it. Actually on many levels, leaving Illinois was the absolute best thing I ever did, and that is not taking into consideration firearms at all.
Move, but if you stay, I would never encourage you to carry illegally. If you actually have to use your concealed gun to defend yourself, the cops might shoot you out of confusion since they are not expecting anyone to be armed but them and the bad guys. That and felonies are bad, real bad. Responsible gun owners are what it takes to maintain the freedoms some of us enjoy.
Did I forget to mention you need to move?
