Clement Vallandigham was a lawyer was trying to prove, in a murder trial, that someone shot themselves, accidentally. While the lawyer was reenacting it he accidentally shot himself and died. He proved his point and the defendant was acquitted.

It takes 42 muscles in your face to frown. It only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and smack someone upside the head.

Nicholas Stephen Alkemade was a rear gunner in Royal Air Force Avro Lancaster heavy bombers during World War II. He jumped out of a plane without a parachute rather than burn to death. He fell 18,000 feet and survived. He was captured and questioned by the Gestapo. They were so impressed, they issued him a certificate verifying the story.
