I have both Charter Arms Pathfinder (old one made in Stratford) and S&W 34 2 inch kit gun and they are fun and educational to shoot. Same for my S&W 4422 3 inch auto.

If I was to get a .22 auto for practice I'd get a Bersa .22 'Thunderer'. That way one could use it as a understudy for the Bersa line of pocket pistols.
