I see this with my liberal sister and her mid-twenties son. She did/does everything for him. It's like learned helplessness. Even though, he moved out, she's still involved with every part of his life - he lives a couple of blocks away. I just shake my head.

My sister was a single mom raising him.

What's funny is she later married a former marine and has effectively neutered him, too. It's a funny/sad sight to see. They have two younger boys I feel sorry for.
