HR IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. For all you know HR may be behind it and may have received the complaint about you and told your boss to do something about it.
Better just to 'shuffle'. Just smile and say that you understand the concern and will do you best to tone it down... and then just keep on doing what you're doing.
