To me the 4" barrel 1911 is about as short as I like to go for carry.
In fact I just won two Colt Commanders on Gun Broker today. Both light weight stainless with ambidextrous safeties (important to me because I'm left handed). One in 45 ACP and the other in 38 Super. They both will fix my existing holsters. Got to save money somewhere.
