I had a similar experience back in the ,70s and therefore discarded the VFW until '04 when they actively sought my participation by paying for my life membership. I even served as Post Chaplain and as a member of the Color Guard. I figure, let bygones be bygones.
I don't believe in intuition but I have a strange feeling someday I will.
