I'm not a soldier, but I used to be. I'm a civilian now. I have every confidence in my tactical and practical abilities.
One well placed round out the muzzle is better than all the rounds you can fit in a magazine.
If the 'one day' you're referring to is the Zombie Apocalypse, SHTF day .. I'm ready for that too and in those times the laws and bans won't really matter ... will they?
