That's the way I sling it when I used a single point. It's the not the transition drills that are the problem it is having the rifle slung while doing stuff that causes the pain. I'm not the only one who has complained about single points with longer barrels (mine is a 14.5").
After carrrying my carbine on a long containment call with a single point I picked up a two point.
