Ruined, not completely. Hurt pretty bad, yes it is but it can be recovered. However it will cost a bit to get it back to fighting form. That will need a little belt time to get the primary back (reprofiled). I cringe at belt use on a good knife ... GOD made stones for good knives.
I try my best to wave people off of serrations because they are such a pain to do correctly (and most do not want to pay to have the time put in).
If you must have serrations, consider two knives one to throw away when dull (serrated) and one to have for the rest of your life (plain edge) with maintenance.
