Maps: Assuming Apple will allow Google's upcoming app onto the appstore the whole thing is a non-issue anyway. I hope google brings turn by turn to iOS.

Contacts: I've always kept my contacts, calendars, email in Gmail. I then just set up my gmail as an exchange account and everything automagically syncs via push.

When I'm on a PC, I can use my trusty google interface, on the phone everything works seamlessly in iOS. Any changes made by me or the people I share my calendars with get pushed instantly to my phone. Of course the same is true on Android.
