Obama wants Marines to wear Girly Hats?

Or "covers" in USMC lingo.
An $8 million dollar waste?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.:aodnsb:

Obama Wants Marines To Wear Girly Hats

Thanks to a plan by President Obama to create a “unisex” look for the Corps, officials are on the verge of swapping out the Marines’ iconic caps with a new hat that some have derided as so “girly” that they would make the French blush.

Last year the women switched.

No word on unisex underwear, yet.

arclight610 10-24-2013 08:35

The women look better in the men's cover.

gwalchmai 10-24-2013 08:37

The ones on the right look French. The others just look stupid. At least he's not making them wear berets.

GlockinNJ 10-24-2013 08:39

They look like they are delivering milk.

Women always look better under my covers.

Well, most of them, anyhow.

CAcop 10-24-2013 08:47

The small hats look silly. I am sure there is tradition that prevents them from tossing them. After all tradition is more important than efficiency.

What kind of umbrellas will they be wielding?

ArtyGuy 10-24-2013 09:09

While the USMC might be considering this (personally I question the credibility of the reporting), I find it incredibly difficult to believe ANY President gets involved in uniform decisions.

Bite your tongue or lose it knave!

you are not talking about just any president, this is our immortal, all knowing, gracious, benevolent dictator.

deputy tom 10-24-2013 09:18

I think the women look sharp in those small covers. The men should continue to wear the traditional caps however. YMMV. tom.

frank4570 10-24-2013 09:21

Obama really should leave alone people who are better than him.

Dress uniforms aren't made to be efficient, they are made for looks and tradition. If you want functionality then that is what cammo is for.

happyguy 10-24-2013 09:31

Meh...looks pretty traditional to me. Actually the ones they currently wear remind me of a doorman at a hotel or a bus driver.

"The thin new covers have a feminine line that some officials think would make them look just as good on female marines as on males — in keeping with the Obama directive."

At least it's not a beret.

Talk about useless .....

ithaca_deerslayer 10-24-2013 10:13

Are they required to wear the skirts, too?

I was going to say they look like the dress uniform hats worn by fire chiefs.

Efficiency in purchasing.

Why make the men go to a small hat? There are far more men than women in the Marines. If anything the women should change.

So... Obama is not involved with the specific uniform decisions at all. Got it.

I've been trying to tell women that all my life.:zipmouth:

morich53 10-24-2013 11:41

This is what happens from someone that has NO military experience, no regard for the military; he needs to step away...smartly

Yeah, that's going to happen...

eagle359 10-24-2013 12:32

They look like the covers worn at the turn of the century.

eb07 10-24-2013 13:03

People will find anything to complain about. A dress cover does not make a Marine... so what.
