Glock Employer said only 124 grain
 

I recently got my G17 gen 4 back from Glock because of a BTF issue. They didn't fix it, and said I need to be shooting 124 grain ammo.

"The gen4 Glocks are made to be a military pistol and are built to handle a higher pressure load. The reason you are getting BTF is because you are shooting Winchester 115 grain." (Of which I have a bulk pack of 1000 of...)

My Gen 4 G19 has only seen 115 grain ammo of all types. I have not had a BTF yet...

Its depends on who/where you ask...in General Glocking video #1 applies, in the GNG videos 2 to 4 apply and in the adult entertainment industry it means "Built to........." :whistling:

I had trouble with the Gen-4 with FTE and FTF issues. I called Glock and they said that the gun was designed to be shot with NATO spec ammo with the higher pressures. I read several articles about the issue and got a new recoil spring assembly specifically designed for the Gen-4 from Glockmeister and haven't had any trouble since.

That's a bunch of BS. There are too many other guns out there that are as good and better than a Glock to have to put up with that crap. Sell it and buy something from a company that stands behind their product.

An interesting statement from Glock. Are they backing away from their long-standing statement about Glocks functioning with any commercially available ammo meeting SAAMI specs?

Isn't there an updated ejector out now?
For 9x19:
There are two different extractors with different geometry. Check to see which one you have. The older style is 90 degree, the newer is 15 degree. Your Gen 4 should have a 15 to match the slide cut. It should be correct, particularly with glock evaluating it, but worth a look. Also, the LCI extractors have a different spring-loaded bearing than the non-LCI extractors. Check the extractor, ejector, and spring-loaded bearing. The bearing doesn't have a visible part number (I can't see one, anyway) but should be black for 9mm and the one for LCI is longer than the non-LCI.

The ejector should be slightly bent as seen from the top.

If all the parts are correct, you could take a known good gun (same model) and swap the pertinent parts as a test.

It's a Glock, it's supposed to run with whatever.
I have shot maybe 300 rounds through my late model gen 3 G17 with 115 grain ammo exclusively. The other day one of the rounds grazed my hair as it flew by, but otherwise all positive 3-4 O'Clock ejection.

Is that what they are telling customers when they can't
fix a pistol?

Seriously, Winchester USA 115-gr should do fine in any 9mm Glock. Federal Champion 115-gr FMJ is questionably in any new 9mm pistol regardless of make or model.

BS from Glock! My G26 & G17- Gen3 never had a problem with 115 gr, & I use this grain 90% of the time. I mainly use the W White box 115gr. It takes & spits out all 9mm ammo!:cool:

Glock is on the down hill.

Of course as busy as ever but still losing market share in USA LE and civilian sales.

Surely that cannot be their "official statement" on the issue. What's different about the Gen1,2 and early 3 models that allowed them to function fine on anything you could stuff in them?

I try to avoid the 115 grain Federal Champion's. But other than that it should cycle and eject any American made 9mm ammo reliable.

The video above proves that some people at Glock don't know what they are talking about. It also proves that some members on this forum were wrong all along.

I'm not saying they glock should not take care of the problem, because they should.
I have never had a BTF problem but all my glocks are gen 3.
Has anyone that is having the issue ever tried to slightly bend the ejector to the left slightly. I know that many people are not into working on guns themselves. But inside my lil mind if when the case end strikes the ejector more on the left side of the case it should make the case eject more to the right.
Yes you could break it off but it is easily replaceable.
As I said above, I have not tried this but it may be worth a shot if you can't get any satisfaction from glock.

I don't know my 1999 Gen 3 G 19 functions perfectly with anything I feed it. WWB 115 to Nato 124,even some bunny phart loads that shouldn't function any 9 mm semi auto and they don't out of my Hi Power. SJ 40

My question to Glock would be this: what have you changed in the guns so that now they'll only function as they should on 124gr-up? Obviously there was something about the older guns that has been changed on the new ones. Care to share?

Glock ruined the Glock perfection that was typical of 2007 models and before.

In the past, I could buy a new Glock and it would work 100% out of the box, with any regular ammo and no brass to the face.

How to ruin a legacy for no reason? First the MIM "dip" extractors in the late Gen 3, then the apparently oversprung Gen 4.

I will note that my recently purchased model 36 (made July 2012) performed perfectly for its initial hundred rounds, thank God.

I was getting BTF 90% of the time from my G19 Gen4. I sent it back to Glock. They replaced the ejector and the RSA with the newer versions. It's been absolutely perfect ever since, firing over 1,500 rounds of everything including WWB, Sellier & Bellot, cheap TulAmmo, Winchester Ranger NATO, and Speer +P Gold Dots. Get those parts changed and I think it'll eat anything and love it.

That is a great question bro. Idk why they would change a thing internally. They worked great the way they were. All my glocks are gen3 and I have not had one problem

Interesting that they put that in writing (presuming they did.) Might be interesting to have someone else shoot it.

IMHO when you buy a NIB firearm of any brand it should function reliably without any modifications or specific ammo requirements :steamed::crying:
