Obamacare question....

I find the current state of affairs very depressing and have basically cut the news off. Over the past 4 years, I have not followed anything concerning obama, especially obama care, I figured it will never go thru.

Well, here it is a reality. I know nothing about it.

What is suppose to be the end result once this is established? Free insurance, cheaper services, What does he want?

RimfireMan 01-29-2013 07:23

Oh boy, here comes the stampede of the "Obama is evil" crowd.

arclight610 01-29-2013 07:41

You must get insurance, or you pay a penalty to the government. In addition, there is a 1% tax increase on companies that make medical equipment. Obama is evil.

GAFinch 01-29-2013 07:42

It's designed to break the current system by raising premiums, cutting payments to doctors/hospitals for Medicare patients, and putting religious hospitals/clinics out of business by imposing abortion mandates on them. Once the current system is broken, our country will have no choice but to move to a fully government-run, single payer universal health care system.

We pay for it, but we dont benefit.

Flying-Dutchman 01-29-2013 08:04

In 11 months you will be forced to buy health insurance if you do not have it now.

If you have good company provided insurance better than what is deemed fair, the overage will be taxed at 40% (out of fairness and to discourage people from having more than others). This will start in 2018 but time flies.

The Obama Care law will be reworked at some point otherwise it will collapse the healthcare system leading to national socialized single payer healthcare.

End of life medical care is where the big expense is so if you live long enough you will be euthanized like a family pet.

They will give euthanizing a pleasant name. Google “Pathways” and the UK healthcare system to see how it is done.

Flying-Dutchman 01-29-2013 08:47

Obama Care is Socialism’s last gasp like a bulb that burns brightest right before burns out.

With U6 unemployment at 15% who is going to pay for this central planner’s dream?

Reading the IRS rules enforced by an army of new IRS agents; now you must do this and pay that and…and…and I quit. I am not working anymore. It’s not worth it. Now what?

It is a shame for Obama. Had he gained control of this Country in 1970, he would have had a lot of money to play with.

But we sent manufacturing overseas without cutting our consumption and now the credit card bill is due.

orgnova 01-29-2013 09:49

Have you read any of it? The ways they are going to pay for it? Like they want 4% if you sell your house! My 2¢.

Dennis in MA 01-29-2013 09:51

Check out health care costs in Mass - then you'll see how bad it gets. DeVille is looking to raise all sorts of taxes to pay for the tame-by-comparison Romney-Care.

BSA70 01-29-2013 15:17

ok, He is going to make you pay for insurance, how? If someone is unemployed or don't make much, you can't get blood out of a turnip.

Of course the deadbeats beating the system will not miss a benefit:steamed:

If you have not followed anything about Obama how could you make an informed decision to vote against Obama, if indeed you did vote against Obama and/or just didn't bother to vote?

The insurance is prorated based on your income. Guess who will be paying for all this subsidized and "free" coverage? (hint: the "wealthy" can only be taxed so much extra - the President was lying about not raising taxes on the middle class)

I can't argue with this. You did forget "Obama is evil"

.

The average family health insurance plan offered by a large company was $15,745 in 2012. The excise tax for the high cost employer plan is $27,500. While I don't agree with this part of the plan it probably will not apply to most people.

Pelosi and Sebelius are responsible for this mess, Obama was just the pretty face who sold it to the public. He should still be impeached, of course.

Naturally.
If this plan was proposed by the GOP without the sliding scale, it would be racist by intolerant haters.

Obamacare encourages individual responsibility for getting health insurance. It encourages employers to provide insurance. It provides assistance for low income or large family groups.

Traditionally, the healthiest among us could get by without health insurance. That makes those who do have insurance pay higher rates because they tend to be the less healthy. By dividing the insurance among all, healthy and non healthy groups, the cost per person comes down.

We currently have a for profit system, and without insurance, you'll get inferior care. The almighty dollar is so powerful that I've personally seen people crippled or die for lack of insurance.

People are afraid of change, but trust a career nurse, our healthcare system is too expensive and provides inferior care.

Now I'll get flamed a bunch. Honestly? I'm just here for the abuse!

So, because I don't smoke and I'm not obese I should have to pay for someone that does/is?

You only say that because you are forced again and again to justify to yourself why you voted for him.
