This is a good day -
One of guys that works on my floor, came up to me and asked me if I still had that Mossberg 500 in .410.
"Yup." "I'd like to buy it, for my grand-son." Long story short, I won that Mossberg in a raffle, a couple of years ago, and it's only been out of the box to photograph, then went back into the box and then into the safe. He offered me $250.00. Sold today, for $250.00 cash. Thinking about a S&W mdl 625JM or a Shield in 9mm. (Can't find one in .40.) What would you spend that $$$ on, IF you were going to buy another firearm??? |
i would look around to find a firearm i liked that did not have to be registered to you... for obvious reasons..

I am sitting here waiting for my latest purchase to arrive at my LGS. Coincidentally it was $250 + all the other costs. A S&W 908.
I think you should make friends with your LGS and cruise Gunbroker to find something that strikes your fancy, surprise yourself. |
The 625 will almost certainly be the better gun for increasing value and collectibility. The Shield has to me, a certain merit for carrying. As I have said before with relatively few rounds through the Shield; it felt to me like a very long term ,familiar pistol. Around here the .40 Shields seem to be more common (and perhaps slightly less desirable) than the 9mm versions.

Around here, the .40 Shield is virtually non-obtainable.
I've seen ONE (picture only!) of a .40 Shield, around here. |

The Shield is a good idea. I have the 40 and love it. It's my primary carry.

Not Maryland!! Just about everything has to be registered, nowadays. No FTF on handguns. Transfers only through FFL holder or State Police. Some rifles/shotguns - transfers only through FFL holder or State Police. I've said this before - Maryland... "The Free State".:rofl::rofl: |

I think you should put that money into a "relocate to a free state" fund.

I like the Smith in 45ACP.

I would put that $250 towards a 3rd Gen. S&W of the .45 ACP flavor, particularly a 4513 or 4563. Other than that, a M1 Garand is on my short list.

I say the shield. I have been very very pleased with mine. Around here you can't touch one in 9mm and they are still going for more than new price if you can find a used one. The .40 not so much, a couple of the stores around me have thems still.
