Capturing a .swf file.
I would like to capture a Adobe Flash Player audio file from a internet radio show. My daughter's j*** album was featured on the program and I would like to preserve the host's comments.
Is there a simple way to capture the file? I suppose my daughter could call the host and request a copy of the show. |
If the video is linked thru youtube, you can go to the website "listentoyoutube.com" and extract just the audio in two flavor formats: mp3 or WAV.
|
Easiest way would be to install one of the many Firefox plugins that do that.

http://www.bigbandjump.com/ (Not the top player {Big Band Jump} on the page the lower one, this week's current Don Kennedy Show.) 57 minutes in to the show at the beginning of hour two, that is my daughter singing Honeysuckle Rose with the Hillsdale College Faculty J*** Ensemble. Thanks for the help. |
Download helper will save it as a mp3 via FF. It is one of the video saving add ons for FF.
|
Also, if you visit the website, then clear the Internet cache, history, and files, once you start playing the song, it should be one of the only files in the cache folder.

Flashgot is a firefox plugin that will do that. If you have Google Chrome (it's free to download) on your computer you can also go to the page, hit ctrl+s and make sure it saves as a .swf. Let me know if you have any problems with either of these options and I'll do my best to help.

Through the help of a number of gracious folks here my daughter and I were both able to get a .mp3 version of the show.
I will have to look into getting the appropriate plugins so we can do this ourselves. Thanks all. |
Crap I'm getting old.....in my day SWF meant Single White Female. I've been trying to capture a good one for a long time now and was hoping to get some pointers.

In this case, the webpage was playing an embedded .mp4 file. In your browser, view source and the embedded player referenced the mp4 file. Copy the link, then use wget or your tool of choice to download it.
