My second Kahr, CW45
I have been eyeing a CW45 for awhile. I really love my CM9, so easy to carry and shoot. So, yesterday I bought one at Sportsman's Warehouse for $369 plus tax. I am waiting for some extra mags, then I'll take it to the range and break it in. Pictures, it's a stock CW45, they all look alike, no changes here .
I was told that it would fit in a Glock 9/40 cal. holster, and it does. My M-tac works perfectly. I also heard, you can use a Colt Officers model holster, haven't tried that out yet. Will update the thread once I bring it to the range. |
Let us know how it works out. I love my kahrs (cw40 & k9) but I've herd bad reviews on 45 models. Something about the small frame vs large caliber.
|
Damn, they're getting cheaper. That's less than I paid for mine two years ago, and mine was a good deal at the time.
Anyway, congrats. I'm sure you'll love it. Looking forward to a range report. |
Yep, just waiting for the mags to come in (Tapping my foot). :whistling:
|
OK, I got two extra mags, took 100 rds of WWB and headed to the range. All 100 rds without a hitch. The trigger is so sweet, and it's accurate. I'll put through another 100rds, then some JHP's, and I should be good to go to carry it.
|
Anxious to hear how it does with JHPs. My doesn't like HSTs, but has no problem with anything else I've tried.
|
My personal thoughts about SD ammo is the major brands, ie: Gold Dots, HST, Ranger Bonded and Talons, etc, are all good. I will shoot a sample of each, and use the one that is most accurate. Long story short, if a weapon doesn't like a certain round, then I won't use it. If it doesn't like JHP, then it goes back to the factory and let them fix the issue. Sometime this week, I'll get to the range and test out JHP's.

Ok, another range day. I shot Federal American Eagle, Champions and Blaser steel case. All without a hitch. Then I ran DPX, Federal Hydro Shox and Ranger T-Series, again, all without a hitch. Clean it tomorrow and start carrying it.

Very cool
Congrats! |
Thanks!!
|
keep an eye on the slide lock spring and screw, mine had problems of loosening, after 4 or 5 times i used some loc-tite on the screw, but traded it off shortly after.
|
by the way, i have had a CM9 for about 3 yrs and it has been flawless, i wear it anytime my g36 is too big.
|
Good to know. I guess I can do some preventive maintenance on that screw. I really love carrying and shooting this weapon. The plan is to carry the CW45 in the fall and winter, and the CM9, in the spring and summer.
|
Just got my Trijicon front night sight, the only mod I am doing on this weapon.
|
Congrats! glad you like it.

Awesome, I have a CW9 and have been pondering the CW45 for that extra winter "thump." To the OP, which loads have you found the most accurate? And have you tried the Win PDX bonded? Read good things about that bullet.

It's a nice strange, but haven't found anything it doesn't like. As I posted, I tried a variety of JHP and FMJ rounds, and very little difference in accuracy. I am carrying Ranger Talons in it now. I basically buy whatever is on sale in 50 round boxes from Ammo to Go. No, I really haven't tried the PDX, I did have a few extra rounds of DPX though. Not sure if they use the same bullet for their rounds. |
I just put on a rubberized Talon grip, really makes a difference in the feel of the weapon.
|
Really like my CW45 - it's runs very smooth using the 6 round magazines. Sweet little pistol.
The free 7 rounder I got during last year's promotion is worthless. It will not feed the 2nd round every time. :headscratch: |
i've heard about issues with the 7 round mag. Maybe contact Kahr, and see if they have a fix for you. They may even send you a replacement.

So are we saying that a mag from a TP45 won't work (or may be troublsome) in the other 45s? That kinda blows. I could use any 9mm Kahr mag in my PM9. At least all the ones I tried worked.

Yeah...guess I know that. Sorry. I jumped the gun so to speak. I feel frustrated that there are so many finicky guns out there. Stupid of me because I know the majority of them are fine. We just hear about problems on the Internet more than good resuts. The stupider thing is I have no problems with my guns. Again, sorry. I want to buy a CW45 and after reading some posts, I borrowed trouble that most likely wont affect me. Doh! :wavey:
|
The internet is both good and bad. Since I started this post, I've been very happy with my CW45. I also really like my CM9.
