Stupid R/C Helicopter Question....
There's about a 30" wire antenna that hangs from an R/C helicopter I picked up at a garage sale this weekend. Can I coil this up and stuff it into the bodywork or must it hang free? Thanks. HH
Edited to add: it's an older 72 MHz model. |
I'm pretty certain it's intended to hang free. If you coil it up, you'll reduce the receiver's sensitivity in a big way. 30" is about a quarter wavelength at 72 MHz, so it's likely 'tuned' for the frequency.

What model you got? I used to fly them. Run it from the landing gear in a plastic tube and then back to the horizontal find on the tail. Loop over a rubber band and slide a piece of fuel line to keep it there. Look up pics. Run Ryder. Com is the Site to go to also. I have a raptor 90 big one for sale in. Georgia.
