Anyone EDC a G27 with 9mm barrel?
 

So I already have a 17 and a 19, and I'm going back to carrying a Subcompact Glock. and I have an opportunity to get a Gen 4 27 pretty cheap. I plan on carrying 9mm and I think it would be kind of neat to be able to change caliber by swapping barrels and mags...

So I'm wanting to know if anyone is EDCing a G27 with a 9mm barrel and if you had any issues with it and which barrel you are using (glock, stormlake, ect)

If you are really going to do this to carry, then I suggest:

1. 9mm conversion barrel
2. change ejector
3. change extractor and spring loaded bearing.

Since the G27 is for carry, I doubt that you will be shooting it as much as your 9's, so why not just use it as it is?

if the 9mm is your preference id sell/trade the G27 for a G26.

if your life is on the line you would be better served without a frankenstein gun.

I've definitely thought about that, but I was hoping to keeping stock in only one caliber JHP.. but we'll see, thanks Danny for your input.

This is the standard advice. However, I'm going to differ.

I use a lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel in my G27 for practice at the range (carry .40 or .357). That barrel has eaten and spit out every single round I've thrown at it. Over 600 rounds of JHP, FMJ etc. From cheap russian ammo through expensive carry ammo. No problems at all.

Quite frankly the G27 with a 9mm conversion barrel and a G26 magazine is more reliable than any of the Kahr firearms I've ever used. So while the theory holds that all the other things need to be swapped, I'd test out the combination with your preferred carry ammo. Once you reach a roundcount that you are comfortable with... declare it reliable and carry away.

That is the exact same evaluation criteria I use for any firearm that is new to me... I run it through the ringer and if it passes my extensive testing, I trust it.

Very few report issues with conversion barrels. But fewer seem to have issues with the orginal stock barrel.

Talk to Barth. He does without any issues (and he did NOT change any internals). I carry my 23 on occasion with a StormLake conversion barrel and have never had an issue.

I've been shooting my 27/26 (LWDbarrel) the last few weeks at IDPA practice, using lots of cheap ammo, WWB, & UMC. Out of 180 rounds over 2 nights, I've only had 3 FTE's.

Meanwhile using the OEM .40 barrel it's been flawless.

Dumb question but can you put a g27 barrel in a g26 and shoot 40cal?

Have a gen 3 G27.
Added a Storm Lake 40-9mm conversion barrel and G26 mags.
Then fired 1000+ 9mm LE rounds made up of;
Speer GDHP 124 gr +P,
Winchester Ranger T-Series 127 gr +P+,
and
Federal HST 124 gr -
with zero malfunctions.
I now feel confident carrying this configuration for Self Defense.

and three G26/9mm factory mags, for my G27/40.

If I successful test run 200 rounds of Winchester Ranger T-Series 127 +P+,
and shoot particularly well with that setup,
would you advise it's acceptable to carry for self defense?

"The frames of the 26/27/33/39 are all the same.
You can convert a 26 to a 27 by installing a complete top end and switching the trigger housing from 9 to 40. You will also need a 27 magazine."

Bought a G33... .357 Sig... G33 mags
Bought a G27 barrel... .40S&W... G27 mags
Bought a Storm Lake 40-9 conversion barrel... G26 mags

It all works just fine, but normal carry is as the G33...

I have six barrels, in three lengths, calibers and finishes.
+20 mags in three calibers and four lengths.
Two triggers, four connectors, NY1 spring module and two
sets of NS (Ameriglo I-Dot Pro and XS Big Dots).
Gun runs flawless with all.

But I too prefer her in 357 Sig.

The .40 barrel is bigger in diameter than the opening in the end of the G26 slide, so it will not fit.

The 9mm conversion barrel is made bigger so there's no play in the G27 slide, while the G33 barrel is the same diameter as the .40 barrel so an OEM .357 sig barrel fits the G27 perfectly.

NO! The barrel will not not physically fit.

I have a stormlake .40-9mm conversion barrel for my G27. And some days I carry it stock, some days I carry it in my 9mm setup, just depends on my mood I guess. I did buy a 9mm extractor because it wouldnt always extract the 9mm cases with the stock extractor. Since I did that, my gun has been perfect with the 9mm barrel. Even when I go back to my .40sw barrel, the same 9mm extractor works perfectly for both calibers. Ive run everything from cheap russian Tulammo and wolf 9mm, to federal hst's and ranger t 127gr +p+, and it has literally been PERFECT. Never even a bad ejection where it goes to the left or towards my face, always ejects at 3 or 4 o'clock.
I regularly trust my life to my G27 w/9mm stormlake conversion barrel, loaded with 147gr HST's...

Well I went ahead and had my lgs order me a gen4 26.

I'm sure you will notice more than one problem with this but the very 1st will be that the barrel won't fit through the slide.

...as have I...currently my G23 has a G32 barrel in it with the G32 magazine and 357 SiG cartridges but I would (and have carried) carry the G23 with a Storm Lake 40/9mm conversion barrel and G19 magazine with 9mm (124GR cartridges) for carry...no changes to internals...no issues at all...
