Range report AE AR223
Cabelas had a sale on AE AR223 55gr FMJ for $ 6.99 per 20 loose boxed(AE223J). So I picked up 100 rounds- I was hoping it was the AE Tactical round but it wasn't! Never shot any of the AR223 so I figured I'd through it over the chrony and see how it would group. Group was shot at 50 yards as the wind was blowing so 100 yard group wouldn't be to hot! Especially with using just a redot! As a reloader not to impressed with the FC brass as usual it's SHORT! After sizing came in at 1.740" ish! Doesn't even make Min trim length!:faint: But if you want good plinking ammo this stuff is good! No FTE/FTF's:supergrin:

I'm not sure how old this stuff is, but I shot that group at 200 yards, prone on the mag with a 2MOA Aimpoint from a BCM EAG upper.
I have a couple of boxes of the Tactical 223 left both my AR's and Savage loves it! Like I said this was my first try of the AR223. I don't know if it's supposed to replace the Tactical - it is different as the Tactical gave me 3050ish fps out of my AR's ! The 5.56mm Tactical sucks in my veiw.:steamed:
Those 55gr velocities are what I would expect out of a 16-inch barrel.
