Like every other gun I love, I will be changing some things. I will have the hammer bobbed and polish out the beed blasting. My choices are doing it myself, sending it back to Smith or sending it to someone like Mag-Na-Port.

Since the last gun I started to polish is still half-done in a box in my garage, I think that the first choice won't make it.

I'll post new pics when it's done.

Mine is exactly like yours pictured. it's a 65-6 3". I have the original wood grips, but I changed to Hogue grips like yours. My favorite carry gun by far.

I've got four S&W revolvers;
629-2 4" 44 Mag Mountain Gun
342 ti 1 7/8" AirWeight 38+P
640-1 2.125" Centennial 357 Mag
65-3 3" 357 Mag.

Of the four my favorite to carry and shoot is the 65-3.
Perfect size, perfect balance and deadly accurate.

My 3 inch M65 has been one of my regular off duty carry guns for about 15 years.

I love my 65-5 lady smith. Absolutel pleasure to shoot, even magnums aren't bad at all. Although its a bit to bulky for me personally to carry, it is hands down my favorite gun that i own.

The 3" Model 65 is the finest concealed carry revolver in existance.

I have checkered wood grips on mine. I've found that smooth grips slide around in my hand when I get nervous and sweaty, like when preparing to shoot a bad guy.

The Goodyear grips are too tacky, sticking to my cover garment.

The stainless works well in the hot, humid climate of Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties.

WT is absolutely right, here is mine. It now sports a set of the older round butt "grooveless", grips. "Perfection" for this gun

My wife just needs a 3" LS to complete her "Ladysmith" trifecta.

I too have a M65 in 3 inch. I love it. I have had it for about 10 years now or so. I got it from an ad in Shotgun News from a dealer that I think was in the Lexington, Ky. area. I called and was told these were police trade-ins and I could pay $10 extra for hand pick. I did and boy did I get a beauty.

When I opened the box to look at it the first time I was disappointed. I think I paid $275 for mine and it came with the rubber Pachmayr's as well as the factory stocks. After cleaning it up and giving it a lube, this thing was beautiful. It also must've been sent to a smith or worked on by someone as it has a trigger pull that is just incredible, better than any factory gun I have ever handled.

I still have it and won't be getting rid of it. I plan on adding a few more snubs to the collection too.
If you have a chance to get one, do it. You'll love it. There is just something about a wheelgun that you can never outgrow or fall out of love with.

i have a factory refinished 3" model 64....would love the 65 instead just for the magnum option.

cowboy - owning a 3" K-frame is good whether it is a .38 Special or a .357 Magnum.

The 65s are just like that out of the box. I bought mine as once fired and its smoother than a stick of butter on a hot summer day. Best trigger I've ever felt.
