S&W Gets New Shoes
I picked up this S&W 586 (no dash) a couple of months back. It came with some rubber Pachmyer grips :puking: which had to go immediately. But otherwise it was solid mechanically and had good finish.
Fast forward 6 weeks. I got a package in the mail from Ahrends grips. Oh boy, the new stocks were here! Swapped them on and here is what I have today: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/P-990/586Maple.jpg And I will say it shoots too. Some .38 Special 158gr SWCs backed with W231, 25-yards Double Action, standing two-handed: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/P-990/Target.jpg And of course what revolver post is complete without a family portrait? http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/P-990/SWFamily.jpg (Still to find: N-frame .357, K-frame .38, and something J-frame. Preferably a pre-J Magnum frame.) |
Nice looking grips, cool family pic too. Congrats!

Fantastic!
The look great! Are they Maple? |
Very cool grips.

Yeah, what kind of wood is that?

Teach me to post at dinner time! Those are Ahrends Smooth Tacticals in maple. The picture doesn't do them justice, I need to retake it with a bit darker backdrop for better contrast. The figure just pops, especially near the backstrap. It looks like they're textured even though the finish is smooth.
