Ruger Majestic Speed Strip
 

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Majestic Speed Strip for the Ruger auto 22s. The new and improved version has a new hammer and pivot bushing to omit the magazine safety plus a new trigger pull.

I just installed them on the two Ruger Mark III I have and they work great! The trigger is smooth and brakes around 3.5 lbs. And, the magizine flyes out like it was greased. It was very easy to install, it comes with very good directions and just took about twenty minutes for both guns. Just remember to keep the old parts just in case you sell the gun and the buyer wants it stock or have to send it back for service. :wavey:

I had one in my MKIII Standard. It was OK. The speed strip does allow for quick bolt removal and access to the barrel for cleaning. The problem I have with it is that I still have to separate the barrel/receiver from the frame in order to clean out the the trigger.

If a Majestic Speed strip kit enhances your enjoyment of the MKIII, then go for it.

How does installation of the Speed Strip reduce the trigger pull? Just curious.

I had a Speed Strip in a Mark III and thought that it was a little over complicated for what it was. Once I learned how to field strip the Marks, I didn't need it any more and bought a Mark II.

Hmm..is that like a hammer bushing? (looking at the webpage, it is a hammer bushing.)

I guess I don't understand how a new bushing would effect trigger pull. I can see if it included a new Volquartsen-esque sear or something. I can see the hammer bushing taking the play out of the hammer, but I can't see it smoothing up the trigger.

Maybe the hammer hooks are ground to a different angle or something?

I'm not trying to evoke a quarrel. Maybe someone who knows the geometry of the action better than me can explain this.

No worries man, I have no clue, just going on what I read. I would guess that taking the magazine safety out of the picture would help with the trigger some but is just a guess.

I just got a bore snake for quick cleaning, thinking about an aftermarket trigger upgrade, finally got to shoot my new 22/45 yesterday.

How'd it shoot?

Shot great with CCI mini-mags. Also shot some Federal 31 grain load, the pistol did not like that all.

Trigger is not bad in weight but needs to be more smooth. Love the gun!

My Rugers love MiniMags, too. If you want a better trigger, try out a Volquartsen trigger. I love mine.
