Patrol rifle photo thread

What kind of patrol rifles do you all have?

We are issued M-16 surplus rifles in the patrol vehicles and have the option to carry any kind of Ar-15s we want. I carry a standard Bushmaster with the old A2 stock and carbine barrel with iron sites for now.

I'll post a photo of it in the next day or two.

I got it for $350 (that is a different story)

Bushmaster on the bottom is my duty rifle.

M-16A2 rifles where I work, for those of us who have them at a post.

RRA Tactical Car A4
-MI FSB Mount with TLR-3
-Cheap Single Point Sling
Wanted it pretty basic to use when teaching since it would be more like most student rifles.

I'm surprised we don't have a sticky of this already.

Don't have any pics of ours, but we run Bushmaster M4A1's. Stock sling, iron sights only with one 20-round magazine and one 30-round magazine. While this may not sound like much, many departments around here do not even have shotguns in their patrol vehicles.

This is my personal patrol rifle that I can use, if I so desire.
Bushmaster M4, 16" Patrolman
Magpul stock and handguards
Tangodown VFG
Eotech 512
BCM Gunfighter charging handle
Elzetta flashlight mount with a Surefire 6PX 200 lumen light (this pic shows the 6P LED)

I would like a sticky

Morris 07-09-2011 23:02

You would. :)

Those in the perimeter vehicles.

OLY-M4gery 07-10-2011 05:39

M16A1, converted to semi, M16A2 handguards and carbine style butstock installed, single point sling 2X30 rnd P-Mags, is the department provided long gun.

I have an LMT M4 type carbine, M2 Aimpoint, M500A Surefire with a 700 lumen LED conversion, single point sling, 3X20 P-Mags.

collim1 07-10-2011 11:31

Ya'll make me jealous, I am not allowed to carry a rifle caliber long gun. Issued shotgun or self bought pistol caliber carbine.

I carry a 870 loaded with buckshot and a Ruger .40 carbine. Its the best I got.

Rabbi 07-10-2011 14:34

We are allowed to have any AR platform we want as long as we take the Patrol Rifle class. I need to do that. Keep the pics coming!

RetailNinja 07-10-2011 14:55

original CMMG piston on a DPMS lower. Front sight is turned around now (GGG puts their retaining pin on the opposite side as standard military). Not stock.

Cochese 07-10-2011 15:11

Daniel Defense M4.

DD upper, lower, LPK, BCG, and pencil barrel
Magpul MOE grip, stock, BAD, mags, MBUS, AFG, ASAP
Troy/VTAC TRX 13"
VLTOR LPGB
Surefire FH for Surefire suppressors
Gunfighter MOD 2 CH
EOTech eXps 3-0/G23FTS
Surefire X300 at 12
SKDtac P.I.G. MK-I padded sling

I'm sure I forgot something. I sold my LMT to build this as a lightweight patrol gun. So far so good.

As it sits, it is lighter than our department 6721s.

Crappy pic...

How is the pressure switch mounted on there

Gangrel 07-10-2011 16:11

On the rail, it's made for it

DaBigBR 07-10-2011 16:12

That's a Surefire rail-mount pressure switch.

I like that build a lot.

Colt Canada C-8A2 with 3 point sling with Surefire Scout light and tape switch. Everything in these photos is issued. Everything I will be adding on shortly I purchased.

Next week when I have time for a range trip to re-confirm zero I will be mounting a rail to the underside of my handguard with a Magpul railed vertical grip and putting my light on the left side of the tri-ad rail (ditching the tape switch and will use the tailcap button.

I just bought a Tactical Tailor single point sling as well. I'll post more pix next week.

I hate 'em because it reminds me I live in CA and our chief won't sign leeterhead because Govenor Moonbeam wrote an opinion on his last day in office as AG saying officers have to turn in their weapons when they retire but never said anything about being compensated.

pal2511 07-11-2011 12:19

Gangrel I didn't realize Surefire had a switch that mounted directly to the rail. The one I have you have to put sticky tape on it to put it where you want. Thanks

pal2511 07-11-2011 12:23

I'm enjoying this thread because I can see what patrol officers carry without having to look at only what my local officers carry. None of our full time officers carry their own rifle on duty. I will carry mine once I figure out what stock and sling I want. I am trying to find a decent low cost carbine class to go to.

Oh, yeah. Being surefire it costs like 70 bucks, of course... It has a pressure and an on/off switch.
