SafeCastle food package questions
For the 4 month, 7 month, and 18 month packages....
1. The 4 month package states that this is for one person, is that true also for the 7 and 18 month packs? 2. What items in these packages have the lowest shelf life? Or perhaps more simply what is the minimum shelflife for the overall package? 3. What is the estimated storage space required for each package, in ft or cubic ft if possible? (length x width x hieght) Thanks! |
1. Food package definitions
Hello. We estimate a time period for our food packages based on calorie counts ... specifically, 2000 calories per day. (Beware sellers who try to pass off a "serving" as a meal.)2. Shelf life Shelf life varies a bit. Mountain House freeze-dried cans are good for at least 25 years in reasonable storage conditions. Mountain House in mylar pouches is rated for a 7-year shelf life.3. Storage requirements Rough estimates for space required to store these packages: |
Thanks, perfect response. I was worried about the space needed to store something like the 18 month supply since the picture shows a warehouse stacked to the rafters! I figured that was more for effect. With the 4 month and 7 month supplies i could probably spread that stuff around to various closet floors. The 18 month supply might be more of an issue though.
Thanks again for the help. Funds are currently lacking but hopefully there is a purchase somewhere in the near future. |
