zen is this a .45 build? okay lang ba na gumamit ng lightweight trigger components kahit hindi extended yung firing pin? or may extended firing pin ba ang .45 cal?

mtho 12-16-2010 10:09

Hi Jawel, yup, its a .45, i plan to use to same ammo ng revo ko para minimal logistics. regarding the firing pin, pag sa revo, i dont believe in using extended firing pins for ultralightened setups, ni compute na namin ni ans yan at experienced it first hand. most people dont believe me until they test my 6.5lb trigger pull

For a very simple, yet practical modification for carry, I would suggest a set of King Tappan sights, Videcki trigger, a reliability package, and Wilson mags (either seven or eight rounders).

ans3288 12-16-2010 22:17

BI to the next level!!!

since colt yan, dont do anything irreversible para ma preserve yung value. keep the original parts in case you want to sell the unit.

just buy sight that would drop in. a hammer set that would give you a nice trigger pull and wilson mags or cmc power mags

If you don't mind me asking, did you replace the barrel bushing on the Commander? If yes, what brand and how much?

Kaiser Soze 01-03-2011 01:08

One more thing...I noticed that the front sight on my 1911 is the original old style (pinned) and there is rusting beneath it. I cleaned it out well with some WD40 and brushes (and floss to reach under the sight)...

Although I like the classic look of the pistol, I think that I might have a front sight dovetailed na lang.

boholglock 01-03-2011 02:54

Ganda ng mga builts dito.

I need your inputs, Meron bang drop-in beavertail grip safety for the colt series 70 frame, so as to keep the frame in its original configuration (just in case you want to restore it to its original set-up?)

What's the advantage of the Koenig hammer?

Another thing, do you change your firing pin stop to the square-edged type(as against the usual radiused/round-edged one?

Thanks.

isuzu 01-03-2011 13:28

Wilson sells drop-in beavertail grip safeties part nos. 429BG and 429SG for full size pistols. 429BC and 429SC for Commander pistols.

mtho 01-03-2011 20:33

wilson has several types of beavertails, check carefully to be sure you get the one that would drop in to your gun.

Yes Sir, That's an Ed Brown barrel bushing sent by a cousin from US.

Thanks Sir, Parang ganun nga po, when i bought my unit it was marketed as "Enhanced Commander" so basically ala na yung rounded hammer trademark ng stock commander.

Agree. I still have my wilson drop in commander beavertail that won't fit without building up some metal with my commander frame. So i decided to retain the stock one. Depende siguro sa brand ng 1911 gun, merong drop in talaga sa iba naman hindi.

wingz 01-04-2011 05:59

BTW, thanks doc EC for the" trigger set" advice way back. Superb talaga!

Eye Cutter 01-04-2011 06:16

meron pa ako isang EE set for my project. after ko magamit yun, wala na supply!

Galing talaga doc, just in case i become tempted to build a new 1911 project, this early i'd want to seek your advice again hehe. Kaya lang bakit mawawalan ng supply?

Eye Cutter 01-04-2011 06:37

what i meant was, wala na ako mapapabilihan ng EE set sa states!
