Single Stack Builds

Someone was asking for a picture of this. While digging it up, nangati nanaman ako to build something similar. C.T. Brian was my inspiration but this was executed by Tony O. Post your single stack projects here para maiba naman. We have threads na for the tupperware and race gun setups.

bros. im plannin a single stack .40 build... the only thing that makes me hesitate to do so are the magazines... do you think its practical? or should I just do the classical thing and go with a .45? has anybody done a single sack .40 build lately? thanks......

CatsMeow 07-28-2010 18:51

Okay, I'll play, my FrankenColt:
http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...s/IMG_0191.jpg
Rare 1945 Colt "JSB" frame, Essex slide, Novak target rear sight, Rock Island barrel, Armscor hammer, sear and thumb safety, Wilson stainless slide stop, dehorned John Masen grip safety, Tony Pascual trigger and "recoil reducer". Assembly and trigger job by Alastair Cortes of Mandaue City. Doesn't rattle.
I may have to let go of it soon, fired it only once after my transfer here.

Next year, a Tribute to JMB's masterpiece, the BoG's 1911 Centennial Cup!

mtho 07-28-2010 23:10

i think you couldn't ask for more. best parts and no compromise on the work done. steel quality on the slide and frame is great and forged at that.

Eye Cutter 07-28-2010 23:13

mark da spark, post pics of your toys!

New_comer 07-28-2010 23:26

Addie, GANDA!!!
Simple yet seemingly powerful inside.
Ganda pa ng photog...with emphasis on an "old-cut tree" and "spider web".

mahal naman!

CatsMeow 07-28-2010 23:52

Thanks, Pogi. That setting was right outside the Cortes shop in Mandaue. Those who've gone there would remember the smell...:whistling:

I'll be bringing it to Tony O soon for filling in the pitting at the right side. It runs well on the original GI extractor. I gave the old Colt slide stop to a doctor who had the slide stop break on his Norinco, still holds up until now.

(When I do let go of it, it will come with four (4) Chip McCormick mags)

I think mtho is talking about Clark's gun

akula 07-29-2010 05:17

Not really a build, but here's my upgraded Kimber TLE/RL-II. It now sports EB Ambi, Memory groove grip safety and S&A Magwell. Plus replaced the stock hammer & sear with STI (USA) parts. All parts are in 'Tactical' black, except that I found out that that plunger tube is actually stainless, painted in black :(.

I think our friend got a little carried away when he was building that particular 1911. :)

I've always wanted a "77" slide, but at the time of my build, none were to be had in Cebu, so I went with Essex, heck, I almost bought a Shooters slide...

I'm waiting for Sweater to chime in and show us his collection.
