Thanks for the shout. Sorry for the delay, I don't get a lot of messages on GT, so I don't look for them. I'm more of a reader (lurker). I tend to use some heavy discression in posting on the internet.
Anyway, I have been hired (conditional upon completing training) for this summer in OOB. I'm 35, so it's an exploratory into whether law enforcement is something I'll enjoy. At this point, I have no doubts, but we shall see. I am presently working on getting geared-up (mostly through Triple Nickel in Windham). I have several friends with whom I shoot IDPA who are LE, and decided this year to act on what has been a lifelong (and supressed) dream.
I scored well on the SCORE exam, have started getting into better shape, and am also applying with Portland. They are hiring for the late August Academy class. Funny thing, the MCJA facility in Vassalboro is where I attended 6-10th grade when it was Oak Grove Coburn. It will be a trip walking the halls again... I had my first kiss here, played soccer on this field... lots of memories. I think it will be a lot like a Twilight Zone episode to be honest.
So, how do you like the SO in Belfast?
I'd be interested in learning what you have to offer. And if you want to get down here some time, I shoot at the Scarborough Fish and Game Association, which has an AWESOME facility. I'm big into "share your sport". That is, if you can find any ammo. Pretty scarce these days...
