Pensacola is a small city. Some would consider it very small. I raised my 3 sons in PAce Florida about 20 minutes north of Pensacola. It is very much the old south. It is not like the rest of Florida. Think pine forests, not palm trees. The beaches are considered some of the most beautiful in the owrld, always rated in the top 10 if not in the top 2-3.
I wouldn't buy a home in Pensacola, but Pace is a great place as are other towns around Pensacola. The cost of living is about the cheapest you will find anywhere in Florida.
Crime is much lower than other cities. What they consider rush hour traffic isn't anything at all compared to other cities. The biggest drug problem where my sons were raised was marijuana. Pretty tame really. Beer was more prevalent.
If I had to do it all over again, I would raise my sons there again.
Any specifics, just ask.
