G22 in the rain

I thought the hardcore Glockers would appreciate this as it's a small testament to Glock reliability. Admittedly I don't do this with my other guns, but with my G22 it's a real pleasure. Like always it runs 100%, no issues whatsoever (of course afterwards I consider a thorough detail strip necessary). My groups do open up a little at 15yards due to the grip being so slippery though. As you can see, today I "accidentally" dropped it in a few puddles too :whistling:

.22 Conversion units for practice

I am having a bit of difficulty readjusting to the Glock trigger after a ten year layoff.

Does anyone use a conversion unit for practice and if you do, what brand do you have and how do you like it? Any suggestions on brand, model, ammo that works, ammo to avoid would be appreciated.

I was considering the Advantage Arms LE26/27 unit to get some practice time at the range without wiping out my limited supply of 9mm as I am having a hard time finding loaded ammo or components the same brand or style twice in a row.

I'm not worried about practicing transitions or recoil recovery to improve my speed, but I really need to improve my trigger control to get my accuracy back up to snuff.

Shield vs. CM9...so torn.

Finally had a chance to go shoot my S&W Shield 9mm as well as my boss's Kahr PM9 today. I've been contemplating a CM9, as I don't think the PM9 is worth $700+...ever. However, it's a nice little gun regardless.

The Shield has proven a little difficult to conceal (I'm a bit of a fatass, admittedly). I am still holding on to the fact that it may have been my holster choices. I have another on its way to check on this theory next week, so we'll see.

Comparatively speaking, the Shield is bigger than the CM9. Width is about the same, but length and height are definitely different.

Shooting them, they're both pretty great. I was surprised by both. That being said, I am absolutely torn on what to do. Trade the Shield for the CM9? Keep the Shield? Primary goal is to conceal. Pocket carry with both is a tad unrealistic, but the CM9 would definitely be better in a pocket if ever needed.

Thoughts?

Night sights install

My new Trijicon night sights arrived in the mail today!! Because I am too impatient to wait to have a gunsmith install them for me, I decided I would do it myself.

My Gen4 G21 is the first handgun I have ever owned. I have absolutely ZERO knowledge on how to work on guns, and I have ZERO tools required for such an install.

Call me ghetto, but I made it happen.

Love the 15 round mags but they way they bubble out on the bottom kind of bugs me a bit. Second question, anyone know where I can purchase a threaded barrel for it?

I've acquired four Glocks over the years and was the first in my unit to do so back in 92. Right out of the box it was a very good pistol to shoot. My duty Glock was a 21, and later went with a 21C. I've had the luxury of having one of the officers at the range help me take care of my pistols and have never had one problem until now, seven years after retirement. Our church is starting a "sheepdog" security ministry and it's time to bring the G's out of retirement. I never stopped shooting and have several other pistols that I shoot as well.
My Mod. 30 has dealt me fits this week over something I have done. I disassembled the (slide lock and spring) from the frame to see how it comes out. I was thinking about getting a wider slide lock and also needed to see it compared to my Mod. 21 which I needed to take apart for other reasons.
So here's my quandary !!
Page 33 of the Glock Armorer's Manuel shows the three different " slide lock springs that are in Glocks. Mine it for the Mod. 30 and is the spring to the far right. HAS ANYONE EVER INSTALLED ONE OF THESE, THAT CAN HELP ME GET MINE BACK IN AND WORKING.

As other threads posted. We had a 4th grade class trip where a portion of trail "failed" and two children died, others injured.

So there are lawyers on TV saying how school is NOT exempt from liability, they should have known better, With rain it was expected result...
Family members who are on camera are saying "its nobodys fault" which will change when lawyers "advise them" $$$$$$
So class trips will be even more goofy. I remember getting dirty/ having great time/learning something. Not kept 40 yards back "where its safe"

Question about insecurity and changing your ways

Hey all, I have a question for you.

About two months ago, my wife and I separated. The majority of it was due to my insecurities, especially being overly jealous and accusing of things. Stupid things. It was almost as if my brain was programmed to find something negative based on made up scenarios in my head.

This led to the separation.

Fast forward two months to today.

Since my health insurance at work doesn't kick in for another month, I've been studying up on some different websites for both self help books, articles, and audio. It's been going great, and I do feel better reading these and learning what I can do to understand myself better and also make myself a better person.

That's what leads me to my question. Just about everything I read tells me that if you make a daily commitment to change your habits, change your negative belief structure, and change your attitude towards your jealousy, insecurity, or self esteem issues, that it will end up eventually causing you to truly believe that and be more comfortable with who you are as a person and in a relationship. I'm all for that. I am actively trying to do that right now. But is it possible? Is it truly possible to change who you are mentally? Can I actually "force" myself to look on the bright side, become trusting, not accuse? Can I eventually accept that mindset and truly believe it as my own? Or is it essentially just putting on a false front, doomed to return to how it was?

Sorry for the long post, just looking for some opinions.

Decided to take some glamour shots of my "Ninja Glock" today.

Broke out my Nikon J1, and took some glamour shots of my favorite handgun.

Glock 19C with Factory Threaded Barrel, milled in Trijicon RMR w/ Tritium BUIS, Streamlight TLR-1 HL, and my Silencerco 45Osprey.

The suppressor looks like it doesn't clear the light, however, it indeed does......but BARELY.....fires just fine, and no rub marks or impact marks on the suppressor or the light, so all is well.

Glock already has a modular back strap system so would it be feasible to also employ a front grip system for those of us who dislike the finger grooves and prefer a Gen2 type grip?

My Rem 870 Tactical just has a plain front bead with no rear sight but is drilled & tapped for a weaver rail.Just curious if a rear sight is absolutely necessary if you only wanted to install a banded front sight like the one pictured. Would the taller height of the front sight throw off your accuracy if no rear sight was used at all ?? Thanks...

I posted a hasty thread with a vid clip of a CT target session. the guy chewed a ragge hole. I mistook this for mechanical accuracy, but I was corrected -- it's practical accuracy. Someone made the comment that teh Glock is not a 'target' gun. That makes me wonder.

So... why not? What would it take to make it a 'target' gun? Something that chews holes in target centers? Some people say that a SIG is more accurate out of the box. If that's true, why is it true? Don't they both have barrels locked in slides that ride on frame rails? What's the difference? Does the polymer frame flex too much for rigid/consistent lockup? Is a full-length SIG/HK/1911 rail vs the four mini rails on a Glock the difference? Is it all in lockup? If it is, how do you improve lockup on a Glock? Aftermarket barrels get dissed all the time, so... what would it take?

Not that long ago I changed my 23 out for a 20sf. Last week the flashlight that I edc died. I was wondering if anyone made a flashlight that snaps into place on the rail. I was hoping to find something that I can carry in my pocket or on my belt, since I use the light a lot. Then if I needed to could just slide onto the rail of the 20 to have both my hands on the gun.

New York State Senator Patrick Gallivan (R-59th District) New York State Assemblyman Robin Schimminger (D-140th District) are sponsoring a bill that would cover bowling shoes. The bill in the assembly is co-sponsored by Assemblymembers Brian Kolb, Crystal Peoples-Stokes and Jane Corwin.

It would require alley owners to post signs, warning kegglers not to wear bowling shoes outside. The reason, alleys would be shielded from lawsuits filed by people who slip and fall on snow, ice and wet pavement outside in their bowling shoes.

New Mexico has added Wyoming and Nevada to the list of states it Honors. Wyoming will again honor New Mexico as they will honor anyone who honors them.

Alabama, Arkansas and Kansas in the next few months will honor all other states. KS on July 1, AR on July 17 and Alabama on Aug. 1. All these states have also amended their carry laws opening up places where those with a valid permit/license may carry and AL will now officially be a Shall Issue state. Those state pages will be updated on www.handgunlaw.us when their new laws go into effect.

Arkansas new law has the most questions. They have defined what a Journey is, �Traveling outside your county of residence.� Other wording changes in their law have some stating that AR will be an Open Carry state also. They do not allow Open Carry at this time. Authorities are stating that Open Carry will still not be legal so it looks like there will be some court cases soon after the new law goes into effect. Handgunlaw.us recommends that you not Open Carry in Arkansas when the new law goes into effect until they get it ironed out in with authorities or the courts.

WV has changed how it will honor other states. They will now honor anyone who honors them. WV should establish reciprocity with Alabama, Georgia and Colorado in the coming months. They could pick up a couple others. Time will tell there. This new law on Reciprocity doesn�t go into effect until July.

Other states are making changes. Mag limits and such with California actually outlawing the sale of all Auto Loading Pistols. With their Micro Stamping law passed in 2007 now in effect unless a pistol has that feature it can�t be sold in CA. I am very interested in how the manufacturers will handle this on selling their firearms in CA.

Again I want to thank those who give me a heads up on changes in their state laws etc. I can�t do this by myself and all your assistance is very much appreciated. Handgunlaw.us will be updated with changes that have taken effect in the last few days later this evening or early tomorrow. Thank you again.

Finally got the call to pick it up from Wal-Mart after waiting since Sunday. Oh well, it's home where it belongs now. My new Colt LE6920MP-FDE. Comes with Mag Pul FDE furniture and a forearm grip not shown of course. Picked up a cool little red/green dot scope for it while I was there today. Perfect gun to celebrate Memorial Day IMO. :cool:
