if I have the name correct, the pin through the grip. I just bought a used but like new G26 and I took it down to inspect and oil and noticed the pin that holds the rear assembly, with the ejector on it, was missing. I have a new one on the way as I type this but I was wondering about the gun possibly being shot that way before I bought it. I have no plans of shooting the gun without the pin in place but it leaves me wondering...

What would or could happen shooting a G26 without that pin in place?

I may be looking to buy a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .30-06 through a private party sale. The rifle is a 2008 limited edition made by FN in South Carolina. I haven't seen it and don't know the asking price on it yet but expect it's been lightly used. Cabela's currently lists a new M70 featherweight for $799.99.

That's it's a limited edition doesn't mean much to me, mostly interested in a near new elk rifle for a less than new price. What would you expect to be a fair price for it?

"Major Nidal Hasan has now been paid more than $278,000 since the Nov. 5, 2009 shooting that left 13 dead 32 injured. The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasan’s salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty."

"If Hasan had been a civilian defense department employee, NBC 5 Investigates has learned, the Army could have suspended his pay after just seven days."

I ran across this spread sheet I put together 5 years ago for some friends looking to build ARs back then. This represented every company I could find that offered parts kits. There are probably a few of those companies no longer around. Of course it doesn't represent some well known companies that weren't around then. Also note that barrel twist rates were 1/9 not the common 1/7 that everybody wants now. Also note the additional charge for chrome lined bbls.

Obviously things have changed a lot in 5 years but I thought it was an interesting look back. BTW, those prices represent everything but the stripped lower and shipping.. Click on it to see it better.

My brother is getting married in August and we have decided on a 3 night stay in Vegas for the bachelor party. Does it really matter what hotel we stay at?

Ive been to Vegas once, but that was with my wife, so we werent doing anything too crazy. We will have a group of six guys, all mid to late 20's. We want to keep it as cheap as possible, but want to stay somewhere nice. I was thinking Mandalay Bay. Planet Hollywood has some good prices and is more centrally located on the strip though.

What do you guys think? Any other places we should check out?

If you notice in this article all but one committed their crimes after obtaining their permit.
People are people where ever you go.
The summation of the article is looking at shortening the length of the permit to 3 yrs, to better catch folks who dirty up after getting their permit.

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/51941474

City leaders will vote this week on a move to make it illegal to carry a gun in the open.

The public safety commissioner says some people were startled to find
people carrying rifles near the most recent gun shows at the city center.
There's even been an effort to get the shows cancelled.

The city's public safety commissioner says he heard from (BS!)-Ed.who were concerned that visitors to the shows walk in and out
with their guns in hand, not in a case or bag.

There's no law that the guns have to be concealed.

But the commissioner thinks there should be.

Not everyone agrees with the commissioner on this issue, including
his colleagues on the city council. There'll be an opportunity for
you to weigh in at a public hearing at 6:50 Tuesday night at City Hall.
************

Never mind that this small town makes boodles on the multiple gun shows which bring thousands into the town... his excellency, the *safety commissioner* thinks yada, yada, yada...

I have 2 ridge vents and 3 gable vents. Also soffit vents all around.

The blown insulation in the attic could be better as I can see some of the side of the 2x6's. The insulation is over 20 yrs old, so I assume it's settled a good bit.

We added a new upstairs HVAC couple yrs ago and the installers mashed some of it down, but they had to when they enlarged some of the duct work.

We plan on staying here another 5 yrs, then move.

The blown insulation would run me about $600 installed by same folks that did the new HVAC. Roof fan would be around $200 installed.

My concern w a roof fan is that I already have 2 different vents up there and that a fan may screw up the flow of air.

I know I need more insulation, so I guess just pay more and get the insulation job? Maybe I can deduct it on my taxes?

Thanks.

When I was in, there were a number of places that were off-limits to us. The ones I knew of made sense, even if I didn't like it, in some cases. They were places that presented a danger to servicemen. There was probably a list of prohibited places, but if so, it was never distributed to us and I never saw it.

I was on FT Campbell's website earlier and clicked on their prohibited sites list: http://www.campbell.army.mil/PortalD...itsMay2013.pdf Some of the sites on the list surprised me. It appears that every trailer park in the area made the cut. I don't find that surprising so much as amusing. It also looks like just about every transmission shop in the area made the least. I am sure that there are some less-than-scrupulous shops out there and the troops need to be protected from them, but how many transmissions shops are there, in that area and are that many of them dirty?

I saw some de rigueur head shops. No surprises there. I noticed a couple of individuals were mentioned specifically. What kind of scumbag must you be to get a nod like that? There was an Eagle Supermarket and BP store at the same address that was off-limits. I wonder what the story is there. Really bad neighborhood? The only times I was ever at Campbell, we flew directly into the boonies by helicopter. I've never been off-post there.

Anyway, just bored ramblings. Eric

I'd like something above grade so that in a worst case scenario the occupants aren't buried under rubble. Large enough to sleep in, in those nights where the storm system is so large it's impossible to tell exactly where the tornadoes are coming from.

In our part of Oklahoma, the ground isn't conducive to below ground. Shelters fill up with water. Very clayey soil.

From an ever expanding IRS scandal to the Department of Justice's fishing expedition at AP to the President of the United States telling us that he found out about all of this in the newspapers just like the rest of us, it seems that everywhere we look there is evidence of the Administration using the apparatus of government as a tool of political repression and widespread corruption.

So say such diverse authorities as Bob Woodward, Charles Rangel, Peggy Noonan and Jon Stewart.
Stevens’ mission in Benghazi, they will say, was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA. Such a mission would usually be a CIA effort, but the intelligence agency had opposed the idea because of the high risk involved in arming “insurgents” with powerful weapons that endanger civilian aircraft.
Hillary Clinton still wanted to proceed because, in part, as one of the diplomats said, she wanted “to overthrow Gaddafi on the cheap.”
This left Stevens in the position of having to clean up the scandalous enterprise when it became clear that the “insurgents” actually were al-Qaeda – indeed, in the view of one of the diplomats, the same group that attacked the consulate and ended up killing Stevens.

California Certifies...

So it looks like no Ca . resident is going to be purchasing a new Glock or any other semi auto handgun for that matter.

California Certifies Microstamping
NSSF WEIGHS LEGAL CHALLENGE . . . Last Friday the California Dept. of Justice suddenly announced that the technology to microstamp firearms is now unencumbered by patents. As a result, a law passed in 2007 becomes effective immediately. Every newly introduced model of semiautomatic handgun in the state now must have a microstamped firing pin that, theoretically, would accurately and reliably engrave a firearm's identification information on each cartridge casing fired from the pistol. The law was signed by Gov. Schwarzenegger in 2007 but never implemented because the technology was, and remains, patented. NSSF is exploring legal options to challenge the erroneous and politically motivated certification, which is in essence a gun ban since manufacturers cannot comply with the law due to the extra cost of at least $200 it will add to the price of each firearm. Even the patent holder has acknowledged his concept functions unreliably and requires further study, and should not be legislatively mandated at this time. The flawed and unreliable nature of this technology has been noted in independent peer-reviewed studies, including one by the National Research Council and another in the professional journal of the Association of Firearms and Tool Mark Examiners. As a crime-solving tool, microstamping is suspect because it does not reliably and legibly imprint the information on the casing, and the shallow marks on the firing pin wear through normal usage. Also, microstamping can be easily circumvented by criminals by filing down the imprinted code using common household tools or swapped out for unmarked pins. Read the Monterey Herald story and NSSF fact sheet.

http://www.montereyherald.com/news/c...amping-gun-law

I'm seriously cutting back on my range time due to the lack of primer availability!!!

I'm down to less than 1000 Federal SPP's (which are my favorite) and have under 5000 CCI's & Win. Down to 1000 Federal LPP's.

Seeing as how there does not seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel as far as primer availability is concerned, I have decided to shoot drastically less than I normally do. I plan on going to the range as often as normal but will shoot far less ammo during each range session.

I did stock up on primers and powder before things got really bad but obviously I screwed up and should have made sure that I had a larger stock pile. Isn't hindsight wonderful?

Has anyone else had to modify their shooting habits?

Oh! You didn't know he had a military career?

Bill & Hillary got about $12 million for their to-be written memoirs.
Here's some help for them since their memories are getting old.

BILL CLINTONbS MILITARY CAREER

Bill Clinton registers for the draft on September 08, 1964,
accepting all contractual conditions of registering for the draft.
Selective Service Number is 326 46 228.

Bill Clinton classified 2-S on November 17, 1964.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on March 20, 1968.

Bill Clinton ordered to report for induction on July 28, 1969.

Bill Clinton refuses to report and is not inducted into the military.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-D after enlisting in the United States
Army Reserves on August 07, 1969, under authority
of COL. E. Holmes.

Clinton signs enlistment papers and takes oath of enlistment.

Bill Clinton fails to report to his duty station at
the University of Arkansas ROTC, September 1969.

Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on October 30, 1969,
as enlistment with Army Reserves is revoked by
Colonel E. Holmes and Clinton now AWOL and
subject to arrest under Public Law 90-40 (2) (a) -
registrant who has failed to report...
remain liable for induction.

Bill Clinton's birth date lottery number is 311,
drawn December 1, 1969, but anyone who has
already been ordered to report for induction is INELIGIBLE!

Bill Clinton runs for Congress (1974), while a fugitive
from justice under Public Law 90-40.

Bill Clinton runs for Arkansas Attorney General
(1976), while a fugitive from justice.

Bill Clinton receives pardon on January 21, 1977,
from President Carter.

Bill Clinton becomes the FIRST PARDONED FEDERAL FELON
ever to serve as President of the United States.

All these facts come from Freedom of Information requests,
public laws, and various books that have been published,
and have not been refuted by Clinton.

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, President Clinton
promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S.
military personnel,
Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia,
which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel,
Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa,
which killed 224 and injured 5,000,
Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole,
which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors,
Clinton promised that those responsible be hunted down and punished.

Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises, an estimated 3,000 people
in New York and Washington, DC, who are now dead
would be alive today.

THINK ABOUT IT!
It is a strange turn of events.
Hillary gets $8 Million for her forthcoming memoir.
Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir yet to be written.
This from two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall
anything about past events while under oath.

Sincerely,
Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

PS.
Please forward this to as many people as you can!
We don't want this woman to even THINK of
running for President!

I ask because I am slightly color blind the the Orange outline on the I-Dot Pros kind of hurts my eyes.

The white outline with the green inserts of the GL 101's would be perfect, but I want to know of they have the same construction of the I-Dot Pros such as the slanted back of the rear sight and same sight picture an whatnot.
If the 101's are identical to the I-Dot Pro's, but with a white outline they would be perfect for me.

I have a little extra cash, for once, at I've found a couple of pistols that either would go well in the collection.

First is a well maintained Norinco 1911. The gun is like new made in the late 80's or early 90's its 95% one factory mag. Round court about ~200 Current owner is an older man who collected 1911 now he's decide to sell of most of the collection asking $525

Second is a plain jane CZ-75B made in 2011 both last year. Box and 2 mag. The current owner has fired ~ 500 round thru it. The gun is 95% . The owner wants something smaller, the CZ to him is too big for CCW. $500.00 solid

I come use a little in put on this. This is going to be a purchase that I have to smuggle into the house.

I keep reading stories about Google and other common providers handing e-mails over to virtually anyone who asks for them. [mediaite.com]

I have nothing of interest in my inbox, save some registration codes for software I've bought over the years. Still, I value my privacy and am interested in migrating my e-mails to somewhere secure. I own a few domains myself but the mail servers are through the hosting company. I have cable internet and am fairly proficient in basic IT work (I can't program but I'm not intimidated by changing a config file with a text editor.) so I'm not against running my own mail server.

Any suggestions?
