I was looking at the possibility of buying a Harley, but I'm curious about the Victory line, specifically the Cross Country or maybe the Vision.

Don't know a lot about them, so what do those of you who ride have to say? QC issues? Reliability?

Resale value seems low, especially compared to HD.

I don't know all the details but there was an accident involving one of the Uhaul trucks they are driving. They have to get another truck, then transfer all the contents of one truck to the other. I would be very grateful if anyone could spare a couple hours of their time to help them out. If anyone can help out shoot me a PM and I will find out where they are.

I always want to know how accurate my G23 really is -- if I did my part (which I hardly ever do, since I shoot freehand standing and always seem to open up a nice group with one or two flinch flyers). I found this link today and it's encouraging. This is what the gun can do. I don't care for attachments or add-ons generally, but I may have to look into something low profile, like a LaserMax Uni-Max Micro, if it can help me do this. It has to be easier to just point the dot and pull, than to line up three objects in a plane.

The thread title says it all...

I have been asked to speak at my son's kindergarten class tomorrow in uniform. My son doesn't know so it will be a pleasant surprise when I show up to his class.

I have lots of stickers and will talk about not talking to strangers, what to do when you get lost, a little about my job, etc.

I am also ready for the inevitable questions like:

"Can I hold your gun?"

"Have you ever shot anyone?"

For the grand finale I plan on drawing my SIG 226R in .40 S&W and mention I am the only one processional enough to carry a SIG (at time like this I wish I had a Glock) and then shoot myself in the leg.

Wish me luck. I am slated for the hour before lunch.

Until I can get a safe, its living in the factory case with the slide locked back, the idea being that if something goes bump in the night, I can throw the mag in, send the slide forward and be ready to go. Any issues with keeping the slide locked back long-term?

Also, any recommendations for good night sites?

Have only one child who is completely and totally out of control?

or

9 children who are perfectly well-behaved angels?

You have to pick one or the other. You don't get to create a third option. You don't get to reject both options. If you were absolutely forced to pick one or the other...

Which would you choose and why?

I would choose the 9 well-behaved children. I spent a few years as a teacher for children with severe emotional disturbances. It was absolutely miserable - but at least I got to be away from them for the evenings and weekends. 9 children would be stressful, but if they were perfect angels I think I could deal with it.

So... what about you?

Now, I don't have pics, but the bore on the 640 appears to have a weak land. Its just not strong and sharp like the others. You can definately tell it at the crown.

S&W says that it will not affect accurracy, but I'm still thinking of sending it in. Thing is, I'm tired of sending guns in. I've sent back two Rugers, and two S&Ws for repair.

I Google searched the topic and found many people have switched out bar for a Gen 3 so I did and it made a world of difference, it feels great now:supergrin:

Kyle statement on ammo for classes;
"With the recent spike of ammunition prices and scarce availability I have come up with an adjusted round count option of 400 total rounds for my OE 2 day pistol, carbine, or combo classes for those that want to train but supply/cost/availability of ammo is an issue.
Simplistically, some drills are simply cut in half, however there are some factors that many don't consider which I've tried out with some custom and mil classes already this year. I have had no complaints so far, only positive remarks from those who I've done this with. Again, 400 rounds total for both days is possible. Hopefully this will help some out."

Today had to be both the worse and best day of my life. My 16 year old daughter had only one exam today so she got home early around 9:30. She sent me a text and said that she was home and was planning on cleaning out her school files seeing that she is finished for the year. She always puts the alarm on "Stay" while she is home for safety measures. At 10:17am, my cellphone rings and it is my daughter. I knew something was wrong the minute I saw the call, because she NEVER calls my cell. As I answered the phone, I could hear the house alarm blaring in the background, dogs barking and she was crying out for me. Not 10 seconds into the call, my monitoring company called my office phone. I answered and heard only one phrase "We have a front door notification". I immediately screamed dispatch the police and ran from my office. As I was running down the stairwell I could hear my daughter talking on the home phone. The last thing I heard before her cell disconnected was "He's in the house". My heart stopped.

My office is only about 10 minutes away, but it seemed like an eternity. I have a bunch of buddies on the police department and as I was trying to call her back and flying through traffic and red lights, one of my friends called when he heard the call go out for my address. He was about 4 minutes away and told me that he was in route. I continued to call her cell but got nothing. Every moment of her life flashed in front of my eyes. As I came flying down my street, I could see about 8 units parked in every direction, including on top of my lawn. I jumped out of my car and immediately saw they had what appeared to be a teenager handcuffed on my neighbor's lawn and then my friend grabbed me. I will never forget that feeling as long as I live. It was as if someone knocked the wind out of me. I couldn't speak. I just stared at him and finally said please tell me she's ok.

I could hear the police officers in my house over the radio saying that she was refusing to come out. The 911 dispatcher was telling her that everything was fine, but she refused to come out until I arrived. I could hear her saying "I'm not coming out until my daddy gets here". My little girl loves to go to the range and shoot with dad and today everything I taught her paid off.

She was walking from the kitchen to the den when she saw a guy running up the walkway through our glass front door. He began kicking it to force his way in. She immediately ran to the bookcase in the den and grabbed one of my guns along with the telephone and locked herself in the bathroom. She has been taught that if anything ever happens to get to a weapon and barricade yourself in a room. If they dare attempt to gain access to that room, you shoot, shoot and keep shooting.

It turns out that the guy had just carjacked someone about 3 blocks away and had jumped out of the car when he crashed it into a telephone pole. He took off on foot and saw a unit across the highway and tried to get into my home to hide.

The officers were amazed at how a 16 year old reacted in that situation. The dispatcher finally assured her that I was there. I called out to her and she slowly exited the bathroom still clenching the .45 she had grabbed. It was a very emotional time for both of us. When everything calmed down and they finished taking her statement, the police chief showed up and was joking around with her saying that he wants her to teach a class for the department. One of the officers commented that she grabbed the smallest and biggest gun she could. She told him that she loves her pink Glock 19, but it was upstairs. At that the officer said, well that 19 gives you 15 shots and that .45 only has 6, but it's a whole lot meaner. Without missing a beat, she said "Yeah, but I grabbed two extra clips when I grabbed the gun".

That's my girl!!!!

I've never really been a Metallica fan ... got forced exposure to enough of their music through the 80's and 90's though, so I'm familiar with most of the popular stuff. This song, Astronomy, from an album that came out in 1998, is the only thing I ever heard from them that I actually liked. Now I know why - they didn't write it :whistling: ... it's a Blue Oyster Cult song. (I dint know)

Tonight, at a LGS, I purchased a Beretta px4 subcompact 9mm.

I purchased it for my wife, as she seems to do better with DE cockers and a hammer she can see. Shoots single or double action. 13 rounds of 9mm, which seems to be her limit threshold of being able to practice and not get sore wrists. I would have liked to get her up to a .40 S&W, but nothing wrong with 13 rounds of 9mm.

Can I still post here, or am I exiled? If I promise to try not like shooting it, am I OK? lol

A couple weeks ago I was pulling into Walmart parking lot. I parked my car and opened my door accidentally touching the mirror of the car beside me. I noticed there was a lady sitting in the car so I looked at the mirror and noticed that there was nothing wrong with it. I started to go around the car to get my daughter out and the lady jumped out of her car screaming "you scratchin' my husband's car, you scatchin' my husband's car!"(She didn't even look at it she just started yelling) I told her to calm down and she got back in the car.

I walked toward the entrance to walk my wife and daughter in and go to the bathroom. At this point I told my wife that I was going to go back to make sure everything was okay.

As I approached the car I noticed that the "husband" is standing in between my car and his. I walked up and he started off by saying "My wife said you scratched my car."

I followed with, "No, I didn't scratch your car, I just touched it." I looked again and it looked as if someone had taken a key and made a small scratch on the round part of the mirror(too high for my door to even touch).

He then said, "So that's how you wanna do it? I guess I'll have to get the cameras?"

I laughed and said, "Yeah, you call Wal-Mart and tell them you want their camera footage."

He pulled out his phone and started fiddling with the screen, but didn't really do anything. I said, "Are you calling the police?"

He said, "Yeah, I guess I have to."

I said, "Well the number is 911 and they aren't gonna do anything because it's private property."

He followed with, "I know the number, b!+(#." But he still didn't dial anything.

I said, "What do you even want?"

He says, "You can at least give me $15 dollars since you scratched my mirror." (FIFTEEN DOLLARS? Are you kidding me?) This b-stard has the gall to try and extort 15 dollars from me? I was so angry that I didn't even want to argue and I said, "$15?" (Looked in my wallet only to see 20's and a 1) Then I said here, here's $20, f-ck it here's $21. Are you happy now?" Then I turned around and walked away.

Has anything like this ever happened to anyone on here?

Haven't been on the 10 ring much lately, but I have been shooting my 20 and reloading as much as I can. My buddy called me today, and said he got a new Gen 4 20 in and gave me first shot at it. I couldn't say no, so here it is:

I can't tell you much about it so far, maybe it does feel a little better than my gen 3. I haven't played with the backstraps yet, but I do like the grip texture.

I'm happy to answer any questions and thanks for looking.

I've wanted my own rifle since I was 16. I'm 22 now, and just bought a Colt LE6920. I'll be picking it up tomorrow after work.

This is my third firearm, and first rifle. Very excited.

Already managed to get a modest pile of ammo, and I'll pick up a few P-mags.

Yes, they have P-mags in stock here.

I don't like the handguard or pistol grip, but replacing those two things would cost less than buying the "MOE" edition online anyway. (not so worried about stock or pistol grip)

Bonus points if someone could tell me if I should try to sell them or just get rid of them.:dunno:

If there's any interest I'll try to edit some pics or a youtube video.

Major props to everyone who contacted their officials and urged them to keep these things legal.
