Hi Everyone, my name is Ken and have been a dog trainer for about 40 years. Also I have adopted dogs from shelters for at least that long and have 3 right now. I know pretty much most of the issues that come out of the pounds, though with some pets I'd need to evaluate in person before offering advice. I am a current trainer right now and also train dogs that are deaf or bind, instruct in all phases of obediance training, administer AKC Canine Good Citizen Tests (I'm an AKC Evaluator) and have other various degrees specializing in animal behavior. If you leave a question, give me time to get back to you as I tend to get real busy. I'll answer when I can. Ken

My wife woke my up this morning a little after 4am. She was complaining about my gun stuff in the basement and that some chemical stinks. What was I doing.

Well, it wasn't in the basement. The whole house really stunk of a solvent. So, I made it to the garage. I notice a HUGE puddle of stinky liquid between my bike and my car (bike is parked in front of the car). I thought maybe some of the various bottles of cleaning solvents I have fell and broke but couldnt find any. It smelled like a solvent and not gasoline.

So, I kept looking. Then I saw fuel dripping from under my bike. A drop every 5 seconds or so. Well, I decided that I would take the tank off and outisde until sun came up and I could deal with it.

Taking the tank off, both the feed an return lines were soft and fell apart. I didnt have to take the clamps off or cut the hoses. I have never seen fuel lines erode like this.

What a stinky mess to have a few gallons of gas all over the floor of the garage. I think the house will take all day to air out.

Im new to Glock, and want to know the practical way to upgrade the trigger. I have been reading about 3.5 connectors and did a nice polish job on the faces of the trigger related parts after learning the detailed strip on YouTube.

I'm wondering how effective it is to change the connector verses changing the springs. Btw, I did notice a little more crisp after the polishing job. It seems to me that the 3.5# trigger pull is really coming from the 6# trigger spring and I like to know the reason and pros and cons for a 4# striker spring and safety blocker plunger spring before I do anything which might affect the safety and longevity of my Glock. Thank you for your help in advance.

How do you like Obamacare now? This is just the beginning.
Obamacare Imploding

1. Okay folks, I know you think the C-Span Channel that broadcasts all those Congressional hearings is boring, but, really, you should have been around to watch the Senate Finance Committee's hearing Wednesday on the Affordable Health Care Insurance Oversight.

2. Folks, you haven't seen so many faces of misery since you watched Les Miserables for three and a half hours...and they were all Democrats. And one of them, Senator Max Baucus, was the primary sponsor of Obamacare in the Senate!

3. Now, try to follow me here because this gets pretty complicated. (It seems that Nancy Pelosi was right; you DO have to pass Obamacare to find out what's in it...and the Democrats are now learning what the Republicans warned them about. It's an unworkable mess that is throwing millions of Americans off the health care rolls!)

4. Okay, apparently, tens of thousands of American employers began throwing workers off their health care plans and opting to pay the much lower federal fine for not offering health care for their workers. Thousands more are even now converting their full time workers to part time workers by limiting working hours per week to less than 30, in compliance with Obamacare rules. (Remember when Paul Ryan and the Republicans predicted employers would do this? Remember when Democrats were warned that employers would move to save operating expenses by moving their entire work force into federal healthcare exchanges?)

5. Now, these workers who have lost their health care benefits are busy trying to sign up for state health care exchanges. (There are Internet sites available if your state has agreed to sign up to Obamacare). However, when these American workers, soon to be without employee provided health care, go to the Health Exchange to sign up, they are finding they are not qualified! It seems that during the signup process, applicants are required to fill in various income and benefit data, which then flows over to IRS computers who then are to spit out what your premium costs will be and how much federal tax credits you'll receive in order to receive subsidies to help you afford health care premiums that are as much as 30% more than you were paying under your employer’s plan!

· Big Problem! The IRS is only allowing somewhere around 9% subsidy support for Obamacare Health care Exchange premiums that are priced so much higher than the worker was paying under his employer plan! (Surprise, Surprise! Remember Republicans warning that forcing working Americans to pay for the 30 million leaches who pay nothing for their health care under Medicaid would drive the premiums of working Americans higher?)

· Second Big Problem! The IRS computers won't mate up with the Health Care Exchange computers because the IRS computer system is obsolete! So when workers try to sign up for Obamacare the IRS and the Health Exchanges are telling applicants to go to pound sand!

6. And so fireworks really broke out at the Finance Committee hearings on Obamacare yesterday afternoon. Senator Max Baucus, (Dem), said.."how could this happen?" I'm hearing from my constituents that they and their families have been left out in the cold and are without health care because the Exchanges are not accepting them!". Quote from Senator Bill Nelson, (Dem), Florida "my constituents are not going to be happy to hear this administration failed to implement the necessary changes to accommodate health care applicants...someone has to pay for this!" Similar outrage was professed by Senator Ron Wyden (Dem) from Oregon.

7. Sadly, Obama Program Director for the Health care Affordability Act was on hand to lend testimony. All he could seem to do was sympathize with his Democratic buddies, saying that maybe the problems could be ironed out by the end of 2014 but could offer no ideas about how that could be done.
v An Update! This morning a Harvard economics professor came on CNBC and announced that, according to a federal study his group just completed, the Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, is going to be forced to come back to this same committee, hat in hand, and request $700 billion dollars more be allocated to Obamacare just to pay for those automatically covered under current federal programs.

v Also, sadly, the Wall Street Journal reported that, in addition to the 30 million Americans not currently covered under Obamacare, we can expect tens of millions more who will be left in the "no health care Twilight Zone"; those who were doing just fine with their employee health care plan until Obamacare was implemented this year. And many of those who were working 40 hour weeks will find themselves deemed "part time employees" working less than 30 hours per week and unable to afford Obama's premiums even if they could get through the application process.

And, as usual, while the working poor and the rapidly declining middle class will be out in the cold without any health care, the Medicaid/Welfare leaches have no worry. They are covered by that $700 billion dollar pot of gold that Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services will be demanding from Congress soon!
Sad. Doggone sad.

Oh, and, lest we forget --- today, like every other day, over 90 million LAW ABIDING AMERICAN GUN OWNERS, have murdered NO ONE!

For $125 I couldn't say no. It's all new never used. I'll keep the M5 scale, 55 measure and dies (357mag & 308win) and probably sell the rest. Why can't I find a Browning HP like this for $125?

A "cafeteria Catholic" is one who picks and chooses which rules of the Church he intends to follow and ignores the rest citing the primacy of "personal choice." It looks as if the bishops are practicing cafeteria Liberalism: the Leftwing position on spending and immigration and the Rightwing position on abortion and homosexual marriage. What they don't realize is that Liberalism is a jealous mistress who brooks no deviation from the party line on any issue and will ultimately be their undoing.

There is a lot of questions about buffers, and the frequent breaking or bending
of the 9mm AR's bolt stop. The common fix, when using a carbine stock, is to
install a spacer or about $1.75 in quarters at the rear of the buffer. The spacers
are about $12 from a few manufacturers, Spikes is one that comes to mind

The idea behind the spacer is to limit the rearward travel of the bolt to about 1/4" aft of the bolt stop. With the spacer, the bolt travels about 1.25" aft of the bolt stop. This extra travel, with the added mass of the 9mm's blow-back bolt, regularly bends and shears bolt stops in the 9mm carbine or pistol.

Slash, from ARFcom has come up with a better fix. He makes custom buffers, I have one in my AR10, have I used his anti-cant buffer is a piston upper as well. The added length of Slash's buffer eliminates the need for a spacer of any kind. Quality workmanship, and a product that just works! Below is the 8.5oz buffer from HeavyBuffers as compared to a RRA 5.5oz buffer.

I think many people are puzzled by the aggressive nature of the IRS under the control of the Obama admin. They shouldn't be. I wrote this in another forum, and I'd figured I share with my GTPI friends:

Obama learned early on how to tap into the progressive elites' desires to slake their white guilt. They desire to be ruled by a non-white who talks like them, went to an Ivy-League university like them, and who is "articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy". They wanted a younger Morgan Freeman god-like charismatic leader to lead them to the promised land of Utopia.

The Left wants a Moses figure VERY badly. You see, they are the chosen people. They know the way to where mankind needs to progress to, but they never seem to find it. They are wandering in the desert of failed liberal programs. This is an emotion-driven pseudo-religion.
The 19th century socialists had an Anglican influence.

So, these people were ripe to be exploited by Obama. The Chicago political machine used the ever-willing Chicago media to open sealed divorce records of two separate political opponents of Obama. Hardly, the tactic of a moral group of people.

Then we come to the unwashed masses who vote Democrat. What can we say? Dumbed down by decades of progressive, union education, these people can hardly write. They don't have a clue about American history let alone the history of Western Civilization. They are adrift. With no known past, they are easily sold on the Utopian dreams of the future or if that fails brided with promises of gov't programs based on money seized from the "rich". But, even these people can reject the progressve message from time to time, so the progressives are going for the final option. They mean to flood the US with people from the Third World. They will bring change in from outside. This is well underway in Europe.

The children and grandchildren of the Europeans who voted for socialism in the post-WWII era are being forced to accept similar immigration. Simply, being socialist wasn't enough change. Now, they are going to be replaced via social engineering.

The Fabian society really got the ball rolling back in the late 19th century. They adopted a strategy of gradual change not revolution. This is why socialism seems to continually advance even in America year by year, federal program by federal program. They adopted the strategy of the Roman general Fabius Maximus. He used a strategy of a long war of attrition and avoiding pitched battles with Hannibal. It was a wise strategy, when faced with a genius like Hannibal who none the less was vulnerable to poor support from Carthage and Roman allies refusing to turn on Rome.

Non-progressives i.e. conservatives, centrists, independents, and libertarians need to understand that the progressives are playing a lone game to eventually relieve them of their liberty. The nation cannot have liberty and socialist Utopia. We will have to be disarmed and the Fabians are always waiting for the next madman's massacre to use as political capital in their long war against non-progressives. Their allies of convenience are Islamists. They too are fighting a long war against traditional Western Civilization.

The West is in a long war with socialists (insert what ever their current name is here) and Islam. The socialists may so weaken the West- economically, morally, with negative population growth driven by decadence and high taxation, Muslim immigration etc. that Islam wins in the end. A civilization needs an economy and a population to resist external threats. The main reason Islam roared out of the Arabian peninsula was because The Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantines) and the Parthians (Iranians) had exhausted themselves in long wars.

Non-progressives better recognize what is going on and ban together or they will be trapped unarmed in a society that George Orwell warned us about. Conflict isn't fair. It often goes to the most determined, the most willful. Are we willful enough to resist?

Remember, what Clausewitz said:

Quote:

"War is not merely a political act but a real political instrument, a continuation of political intercourse, a carrying out of the same by other means."

Karl Von Clausewitz

This long term political struggle is like an all-consuming combustion. Presently, It is a consumption by smoldering (Fabian strategy) that could flare into the flames of war. Either way, the victim is consumed.

Here are a few quotes I've compiled. Feel free to add to this list.

"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
- George Washington

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin

"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote."
- Benjamin Franklin

"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
- Thomas Jefferson

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms."
- Thomas Jefferson

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery."
- Thomas Jefferson

"Arms in the hands of citizens may be used at individual discretion in private self defense."
- John Adams

"To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."
- George Mason (father of the Bill of Rights and The Virginia Declaration of Rights)

"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms."
- James Madison

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."
- William Pitt

"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them."
- Richard Henry Lee

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun."
- Patrick Henry

"... arms ... discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property.... Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived the use of them."
- Thomas Paine

"The Constitution shall never be construed to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms."
- Samuel Adams

This is my most accurate Glock and if I am not carrying my 2.5 gen G-27, the 23 is on me. Anyway fired a 13 rd mag, reloaded and about four rounds away, experience my FIRST unscheduled fail to feed jam.:crying:I have never experienced a Glock jam on me, except at the Sheriffs Academy years ago when we added dummy rounds for that type drill. Shocked:faint:, you bet, round did not feed and was caught its nose on the barrel hood. Cleared no problem, since I was on the range, I expected to see a misformed bullet, but that was not the case. I reloaded it into the mag, hand cycled it and fired on. Over twenty years of daily Glocking, and it was bound to happen...................

My life insurance policy, had never failed before:dunno:, so I took it home and stripped and cleaned it like I always do after a range session, then completly disasembled the slide and cleaned it all again. Will shoot it again this comming thursday, still have compleet confidence in it and its mag, just never had it happen to me before with a Glock.:embarassed:

I just turned 30 recently, and I'm trying to get a move on in my life. I'm seriously lacking in the Job Skills department, and I've decided that, if Law Enforcement isn't going to work, then I could wake up every day going to work as a HEO.

I just don't know how to get trained.

Can anyone give me advice on this subject? Licensing, training, certifications, etc etc? Ideally, I picture myself driving a giant Caterpillar Tractor in a Construction Sight somewhere. But quite frankly, I'll be happy with whatever I start out with, even if it's just operating a Fork Lift for a year first.

Unfortunately, all I knew for six and a half years was being a Security Officer. It was not glamorous, and the pay was atrocious. Beyond that, I don't have much else in the way of work experience, so this would be a complete change for me. I am also not currently employed with anyone, so I would be able to devote my entire time and focus to this subject.

I'm open to going to a Vocational Hands-On College/School, but preferably, nothing more than that. I'm not planning on going to a University to get a 4 or 6 year degree in Engineering; never mind the fact that my math skills suck balls. But I'm assuming that I don't need an Engineering Degree to operate something with 3,000 (or whatever) horsepower and 4 wheels (or treads).

Again, any information is greatly appreciated. I live in Washington State, bordering Portland, Oregon. So chances are more likely than not that I would have to get employed somewhere in the Portland City limits, since that's where the majority of business is operating out of in this area of the Pacific North-West.

Thanks!

I am thinking of total floor coverage with tarps taped to baseboards and them sheets over the tarps.
Is this Idea good?

Do you have a better Idea to protect the carpet?

Thanks, Dennis
