The OEM stock has a bit of play/rattle in it.
Can you recommend me a stock that doesn't rattle?

I use this gun for big game hunting from a small pop-up blind.

ALG QMS trigger $45

I'm almost done with my new PSA rifle build. I got their lower parts kit w/o the fire control group because I wanted to try the ALG "quality mil-spec trigger." I just assembled the lower today and I'm amazed at how much better this trigger is than any other mil-spec trigger. It's fantastic. I thought the windham and colt triggers were good compared to some other AR's I've tried... no, they are crap compared to the ALG. I almost got a Geisselle SSA (which I'm sure is great) but decided to give this a go at 1/5th the cost and I'm glad I did. I didn't want a match grade hair trigger just something with no grit, little to no creep, and a clean break. This is it. If anyone is doing a budget build and wants a little more for their money, this one is worth it.

Kids and Unsecured Guns

Some guy in NJ is facing 5 counts of child endangerment for each unsecured gun he had in his house after his 4 yr old shot a 6 yr old with one of them. A DA in WA state wants a new law to prosecute people for this. Since it's a child endangerment charge, it's only a matter of time before child welfare agencies start demanding to know what homes have guns in them if kids are also in them. It's a custody time bomb for sure. Eventually, just being a parent will be probable cause for searches.

My question is about what possesses kids to point guns at their friends and siblings and pull the triggers? I'm sure that by and large, they've seen enough TV -- even at young ages -- to grasp the concept, and maybe that's why they do it, but it doesn't strike me as a natural act; a natural gesture. Who are these kids and what's their upbringing?! The recent case involved a .22 rifle, which is also barely manageable by a 4 yr old, I'd think. Sad. My daughter never showed the slightest interest in my guns, but she was also informed about them.

My buddy was home on leave before going back to his post in Germany (Army). He had some awesome stories to tell over beers, most involving drunkeness and boredom.

Most people have done some partying at one time or another. It's always interesting to hear people's wildest 'Hangover' style stories, ones from military guys who have been overseas, dive bar bouncers, crazy house parties, etc. Its also interesting to hear the 'back in my day' stories.

Need cable splicing help

I was eating breakfast at my computer this morning, listening to music, when suddenly the sound stopped. I checked Spotify to see if it was lagging, then checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly. When I looked down, I saw one of my cats happily nomming on my heatset cord. That little chub had nearly bit through the entire cord in just a few seconds!

I've done some research on repairing this sort of damage. I have stripped the wires, burned off the colored coating, and reconnected everything to the best of my knowledge. Here's how it looks:

It's messy, I know, but for now it works - I'll clean it up a bit once I figure out how to get everything working. The red, green, and blue wires are for the headset speakers and are working. The problem is the darn microphone, which is the white and copper wires. I've tried twisting the two types of wires together, but it does not work. The big copper part at the top is wrapped around the white cable inside the headset's cord, so that may have something to do with it.

My question is, does anyone know how to get the microphone working? I will probably buy a new headset, but I want to get this one working until I can afford one.

Anyone familiar with this gun?

I just got a sweet new propane smoker.

I was running a little chief electric smoker for over ten years.

I used it when I killed deer to make Jerky, and in the past twelve months I've been smoking a lot of salmon, and some lake trout.

What do you all like to smoke? Favorite recipes?

I'm done with electric smokers indefinitely. Not enough heat, slow to smoke, and the wire was finnicky after a few years.

I got the Cajun Injector Vertical Smoker for 100.99$ at cabelas in the bargain cave, marked down to 140 and I haggled it down to 100.99. Originally 200, so I made out okay. The box was damaged.

The shooting rest I have won't work with AR's. Has anyone used the Lead Sled Solo or the Deadshot Field Pod. I know the Deadshot is designed to be used for more field use vs sighting in but I wondered if it was stable enough for sighting in and then I can use it in the field as well. With the cost of ammo right now I don't want to shoot more than needed to zero, so I figured a good rest is worth the investment. Any other suggestions are appreciated as well. Thanks

I thought the hardcore Glockers would appreciate this as it's a small testament to Glock reliability. Admittedly I don't do this with my other guns, but with my G22 it's a real pleasure. Like always it runs 100%, no issues whatsoever (of course afterwards I consider a thorough detail strip necessary). My groups do open up a little at 15yards due to the grip being so slippery though. As you can see, today I "accidentally" dropped it in a few puddles too :whistling:

.22 Conversion units for practice

I am having a bit of difficulty readjusting to the Glock trigger after a ten year layoff.

Does anyone use a conversion unit for practice and if you do, what brand do you have and how do you like it? Any suggestions on brand, model, ammo that works, ammo to avoid would be appreciated.

I was considering the Advantage Arms LE26/27 unit to get some practice time at the range without wiping out my limited supply of 9mm as I am having a hard time finding loaded ammo or components the same brand or style twice in a row.

I'm not worried about practicing transitions or recoil recovery to improve my speed, but I really need to improve my trigger control to get my accuracy back up to snuff.

Shield vs. CM9...so torn.

Finally had a chance to go shoot my S&W Shield 9mm as well as my boss's Kahr PM9 today. I've been contemplating a CM9, as I don't think the PM9 is worth $700+...ever. However, it's a nice little gun regardless.

The Shield has proven a little difficult to conceal (I'm a bit of a fatass, admittedly). I am still holding on to the fact that it may have been my holster choices. I have another on its way to check on this theory next week, so we'll see.

Comparatively speaking, the Shield is bigger than the CM9. Width is about the same, but length and height are definitely different.

Shooting them, they're both pretty great. I was surprised by both. That being said, I am absolutely torn on what to do. Trade the Shield for the CM9? Keep the Shield? Primary goal is to conceal. Pocket carry with both is a tad unrealistic, but the CM9 would definitely be better in a pocket if ever needed.

Thoughts?

Night sights install

My new Trijicon night sights arrived in the mail today!! Because I am too impatient to wait to have a gunsmith install them for me, I decided I would do it myself.

My Gen4 G21 is the first handgun I have ever owned. I have absolutely ZERO knowledge on how to work on guns, and I have ZERO tools required for such an install.

Call me ghetto, but I made it happen.
