I used to drink coffee (love the stuff!), but then I discovered first hand what happens when you drink 4+ cups a day without putting much else into your system. Long term, this lends itself to internal mischief. In other words, any amount taken in any form resulted in supreme sickness. I didn't touch coffee for years after that.
Now I can have a small amount of low-acidity coffee every here and there without trouble, and I admit that sometimes I slide until I'm drinking more coffee than tea, but history likes to stay fresh with me and my system doesn't let me forget it easily. Generally within a week I'm back to coffee-free.
